I thought a thread would’ve been made for this seeing as it starts in just over a weeks time (unless I just can’t find it :hehe:). Is anyone excited for the upcoming series?

tbh no, i feel like the summer one has just finished. i don't think a winter one is needed, it will be weird and not having Caroline as the host will make it more weird. I can see this year being the year the ratings go down.

I get what you mean Luke it seems like a bit of overkill having 2 series in the space of a year and I also agree with the ratings possibly going down for this series. I’m quite looking forward to seeing Laura host this year though, I think it will be refreshing to see change of host.

I dont know. January is a boring and long month. Love island will help to pass the time. I also love Laura Whitmore. So im looking forward to it

This will be the beginning of the end of the show I feel. Like C5 CBB, having 2 series a year would be too much. If it ain't broke, don't bloody fix it ffs! They're definitely milking this show now. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if ratings dip in the summer from now on due to having it in the winter too.

The producers also recruiting people with media connections isn't also helping things. I'll still watch it of course but it does feel unnecessary to have a winter series.

I agree there Tony, like I mentioned to Luke, 2 series a year is just overkill and I won’t be surprised if the ratings for this series fall compared to previous years. I also expect this series to be shorter in length which I would kinda prefer seeing as sometimes it just drags on a bit and feels like there are a lot of filler episodes when it goes on for 8 weeks.

Just to add, another thing that’s gonna affect ratings I think is the lack of promo for this series which I kinda get considering all the stuff with Caroline Flack going on. Even still tho I’ve barely seen any tbh, even beforehand. This is the only trailer that I’ve seen.

I expect the ratings to be a lot lower than launch usuals as a lot of people wont realise its on yet

To be honest celebs ex on the beach seems the better option

Last year they was announced a week before the launch so I’m guessing within the next few days hopefully :fc:

I haven't seen fiats and all their tweets being shared on facebook/twitter about it.

This was actually another thing I was wondering since I don’t follow Twitter. It just seems like there isn’t much hype about this series whatsoever. :shrug:

With the loss of Big Brother (which surprisingly I thought I would miss terribly but I dont miss in the least) Love Island is trying to do two shows the same as BB did every year with the last few years they were on. I have to admit that the reason I DONT miss BB is BECAUSE of Love Island. I didnt bother watching the first series but since then I love it. So yep its January and its something new to watch on TV The only fly in the ointment for me is Laura fecking Whitmore. I have never ever liked her. I think she is too full of her own importance and just grates on me. Happily it will possibly be more about the islanders and (like Caroline) she wont feature that much except for eliminations and the once a week After Sun

The ratings will definitely drop regardless of whether it's a good series or not purely due to it being Winter and Love Island is a Summer show. I doubt the launch will get any more than around 3m

I’m actually hoping that this winter series will be like a one off and they will revert back to just having a summer series because LI will die out quick time if they go down the route C5 did with CBB.

I don’t actually mind Laura and I’m quite excited about the change in host :laugh:. Don’t get me wrong I was hoping that Emily Atack would be the host of this series but I think Laura will do a good job.

I’m gonna give EOTB a go because the lineup does look pretty good even though I haven’t seen the show in a very long time. Still over 2 weeks away yet which is a bit crap tho.

If there a sexy girl in it then I will watch it

Last summer the launch was June 3rd and the Islanders were revealed Sunday May 26th.

If its the same for this series we should get the new Islanders tomorrow.

Indeed, If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say they could potentially be revealed during the final ad-break for DOI.

I’m sure Series 4 was the same as well; releasing the lineup exactly a week before the start date. Hopefully we get some news tomorrow :cheer2:
