Possible sensational return for BB this year?

Amid poor Winter Love Island ratings so far.

Any potential BB return will be far from sensational.

Are the Love Island ratings dependent on how attractive they are? They date each other, not the viewers.

It’s the voters who ultimately count though .. plus I was referring to the poor viewing figures

So was I. Do the viewing figures correlate to how attractive the cast is?

About time

Morgan. 15-01-2020 10:04 PM

The winter one was never going to do as well. From what I understand it’s around the 2m mark, and social media engagement seems to be just as high as normal so it’s nothing for them to worry about.

A BB return now, not even 2 years after axe, would result in a mid-rated launch followed by a steep decline in ratings across the series and probably immediately axed once again.

It needs to be mid-late 2022 before they even consider running a reboot.

Well it’s bound to have some effect .... I’m guessing most guys aren’t watching to learn about relationships

I would've thought the bulk of the viewers were gossiping women.

The only way to bring bb back is with at least 18 hours of live feed that what set it apart from any other show

Beastie 15-01-2020 11:34 PM

Told you it will be back.

Marsh. 15-01-2020 11:44 PM

I don't see the correlation. So, a winter series of Love Island isn't working ratings wise so... what does that have to do with BB?

BigBrudder 16-01-2020 10:48 AM

Love Island isn't doing all that poorly, but I think the article correlates it to Big Brother's potential return because it is blamed as one of the reasons for BB's decline.

The most important and encouraging aspect of the story, however, is the huge drop of the odds for a return this year from 10-1 to 3-1. That's an enormous slash, and surely not on the basis of Love Island's middling performance but more on something the oddsmakers know that we don't yet. Hope they're right!

Nope. Too early

I always said since it ended, earliest should be Summer 2022, that way they would have had almost 4 years since the end.

I don't understand what any length of time will actually do to improve BBUK's standing? I think BB's legacy will always be tarnished in some regard no matter how long it's been allowed to rest. The real focus should be on improving the quality of production and renewed focus on the core values of the format. Only then can BB win back the trust of those that have left the format...

It ‘tried’ to do that with bb19 and that was the lowest rated series ever..

Maxxie. 17-01-2020 12:09 PM

Cbb not bb should be bought back. Unpopular opinion with die hard fans but if itv2 replaced winter love island with it (it still probably wouldn’t generate the same buzz, but for love island less is more)

They’ve clearly done a winter version for advertising and marketing purposes. Having an ad on during love island is probably the equivalent of what x factor used to be. It’ll probably effect the viewership of the summer series tho so bad move

Maxxie. 17-01-2020 12:11 PM

But I think the concept of regular BB has had its day, especially without live feed. But I think they’ll always be somewhat demand of celebrities living in a house together but if your a bubbly eccentric member of the public, apply for the circle.

Nicky91 17-01-2020 01:22 PM

yes Maxxie, civilian main series should be The Circle

and the big brother one should be CBB what's brought back

i mean in the house with celebs that is also good for the gossip tabloids

Germany also ditched the civilian one and went on with CBB, they first had ''survivor'' with normal people that didn't work at all, and now just having i'm a celeb or dschungelcamp how they call it, which is very popular for few of their tabloids like Promiflash (whose app i have on my tablet to keep me up to date of celeb news)

Jigs 17-01-2020 01:53 PM

I would only want to see CBB back tbh. Fingers crossed!

Same as the reply above - Celeb version only unless they did a couple of ‘winners’ series

I'm not bothered about Celebrity Big Brother.

Should only be a civilian series. But if you really want celebrities chuck one or two in.

Scrap The Circle.

Scrap Love Island.

Beastie 18-01-2020 08:18 PM

Big Brother should just have it's own channel. 9 until 10pm highlight show. 10 till half 10/11 big brothers bit on the side. Rest of the time.. Live feed.

So almost 24 hours of live feed but to have more ratings they need to cut it off while the highlight show and BOTS is on.
