Sinn Fein doing well in the Irish Election

Even in the Final TV debate tonight.

Left Wing Republican Sinn Fein
says they are over the violence

Ch4HD News Report

The young in Ireland like the Female leader,
but no other party will go into any Coalition

Next Weekend is the result.

Leo Varadkar has lost a lot of ground since his disastrous speech saying the young could get deposits from their parents or move abroad to work so they could save up :skull:

Niamh. 04-02-2020 07:44 PM

They're ahead in opinion polls, they're at 25%, Fianna Fail are 23% and Fine Gael are at 21%. They dont have enough candidates running though. No doubt it will end up with a Fianna Fail lead government and that rat Micheàl Martin as Taoiseach. Shame as I really like Mary Lou would much rather Leo again though than Micheàl.

That idiotic speech probably means that he'll win the Election going by how Politics has been going since 2010.

Yes I Know
it's just another view.

Niamh. 05-02-2020 08:47 AM

I thought of Kizzy last night watching the Leaders debate when Mary Lou thanked Micheál for "mansplaining" Corporation tax to her

It more to do with their policies and younger voters who do not associate Sinn Fein with the IRA anymore

I mean it's to do with wanting someone completely different in there, lets be honest here, Fianna Fail and Fine Gael may as well be the same party and they certainly know how to look after themselves and their cronies. Sinn Fein just offer something completely different ad people are curious to see how they would do. We've never ever had anyone other than Fianna fail or Fine Gael run the country, I'd like to see them have a shot at it. It's almost impossible for that to happen though because they don't have enough people running and the bigger parties won't get into bed with them

I wouldn't really know how similar those were tbh Arista as I didn't live under their governments but the impression I get from an outsider looking in on your news, forums etc is that Labour is left leaning and Conservatives are more right? Where as I'd consider both Fianna Fail and Fine Gael to be quite Centre(maybe a little right leaning compared to other parties in Ireland) with very little difference in their policies and goals

I think politics is changing so much and people are sick of the same old thing going on in cycles. This is a shame, if the people vote in numbers for this they should be given a shot

Yeah I know, I think they have 42 candidates running and you'd need around 80 to have a majority so It's almost guaranteed to be Fianna fail or Fine Gael

Large Mirror Front page
IRA plot for Brexit day.

Quote:

THE IRA planned a Brexit Day attack by planting a bomb on a lorry due to sail from Northern Ireland to mainland Britain, police said yesterday.

The terrorists would have caused carnage had their device detonated on a ferry to Scotland.

Officers have blamed the Continuity IRA for the botched terror bid.

Niamh. 07-02-2020 08:59 AM

Nothing to do with the Republic of Ireland Election Jet & Arista, maybe make another thread if you would like to discuss that. Thanks

jet 07-02-2020 12:57 PM

Well they were talking about it on Sky News in connection with the election and Sinn Fein, as the political wing of the IRA. Saying that they have many young supporters now but many older voters who lived through the troubles won’t vote for them because of this and the bomb on the lorry at this time wasn’t helping their campaign etc...

But okay, I’ll leave it there….

Looking good for Sinn fein on the exit polls tonight.

The fact that the media protrayed that it was the young ie 18/35 who didn't know their own mind and hence voted SF was an insult to me 47yr old ..I know my own mind as does my 56 yr old husband.
