Calderyon 09-02-2020 05:27 PM

Have not seen Joker yet, but I hope it scoops the table. (Ie: takes all the Oscars it can take)

Won't watch it though most likely.

LaLaLand 09-02-2020 06:02 PM

I don’t have Sky but would love to watch this. Anyone know anywhere online perhaps?

Oh it’s brilliant, really. So, so dark and Phoenix is unbelievable. Hoping he wins Best Actor (finally!!)

I might watch Crowder's commentary, he pisses me off but hes amusing enough if you're in the right mood.

I'd love for it to win every award but sadly it won't. 1917 will predictably dominate. Joaquin will definitely win Best Actor though.

LaLaLand 09-02-2020 07:13 PM

I'm hoping OUATIH gets a few tonight, just because it's a bit of a trend that Hollywood/"the Hollywood awards" always like to celebrate movies about itself (i.e. La La Land).

Of course I want Brad to win Supporting Actor but I would love it to nab Production Design especially too - the lengths they went to to recreate 1969 Los Angeles in the movie was incredible - no CGI, just all man-hours of redecorating Hollywood Blvd back to how it was 50 years ago - every billboard, street/shop sign, shop window, trash can... Also accurately rebuilding Spahn Ranch from nothing etc etc. Just awesome.

Thanks

My ranks would be:

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

1917

The others (that I have not seen)

Joker (awful film)

MTVN 09-02-2020 07:26 PM

Parasite seems to have had amazing reviews but don't think it's my bag

okay but Parasite built a house from scratch on less than an eighth of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood's budget

Not disputing that. However, OUATIH is a much vaster overall project and much more Oscar-friendly imo.

I'm watching live from the red carpet right now.
