Four rare mountain gorillas 'die in Uganda lightning strike'

So sad
they were doing well in Uganda.

[Four rare mountain gorillas, including
a pregnant female, have died in
Uganda after being hit by lightning,
a conservation group says.
The three adult females and
a male infant were found in
Uganda's Mgahinga National Park
with "gross lesions" on their bodies
indicating electrocution.
The Greater Virunga Transboundary
Collaboration (GVTC) called
this a "big loss for the species".
There are just over 1,000 mountain
gorillas in existence.]

...in the Benjamin Button movie, there was a guy who was ‘randomly’ struck by lightening 7 times...I think that’s based on a true story...

Yeah he was a US Park Ranger, so not ENTIRELY random... A combination of where he worked having regular lightning storms, and maybe being... Really conductive? [emoji848]

The one that's really weird is that he got hit in his car once, which hardly ever happens because the lightning hits the car body and is conducted away. Being in a car is one of the safest places during a lightning storm so long as you don't touch any exposed metal. But in his case, the lightning hit a tree and then jumped in through an open window!

I reckon he pissed off Thor.

so sad, but at least it was a natural event so some comfort I suppose

...Roy Sullivan, I just googled....

‘Although he never was a fearful man, after the fourth strike he began to believe that some force was trying to destroy him and he acquired a fear of death. For months, whenever he was caught in a storm while driving his truck, he would pull over and lie down on the front seat until the storm passed. He also began to believe that he would somehow attract lightning even if he stood in a crowd of people, and carried a can of water with him in case his hair was set on fire’

...and he was still struck 3 more times ...with all of the precautions that he took...yeah, he really must have thought that God was gonna get him, poor guy...
