Quote:

The staff of a European publication decides to publish a memorial edition highlighting the three best stories from the last decade: an artist sentenced to life imprisonment, student riots, and a kidnapping resolved by a chef.

Quote:

The film has been described as "a love letter to journalists set at an outpost of an American newspaper in a fictional 20th-century French city", centering on three storylines. It brings to life a collection of tales published in the eponymous The French Dispatch. The film is inspired by Anderson's love of The New Yorker, and some characters and events in the film are based on real-life equivalents from the magazine. Chalamet's and Khoudri's characters are based off of student protesters from the May 68 occupations.

When speaking to French publication Charente Libre in April 2019, Anderson noted:

“The story is not easy to explain, [It’s about an] American journalist based in France [who] creates his magazine. It is more a portrait of this man, of this journalist who fights to write what he wants to write. It’s not a movie about freedom of the press, but when you talk about reporters you also talk about what’s going on in the real world.”
Huge ensemble cast as expected starring Anderson "regulars" and some new faces: Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand, Bill Murray, Jeffrey Wright, Adrien Brody, Benicio Del Toro, Owen Wilson, Lea Seydoux, Timothee Chalamet, Christoph Waltz and many more!

First look official shots, all typical Wes Anderson:

It's an interesting idea.

Never been blown away by Wes Anderson films. He's a bit overrated for me.

Hell of a cast but i generally dislike his films. Only one I've enjoyed was The Royal Tenenbaums
