Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Arista, Happy Birthday you

and again.

now dry your hands :hee:

Saph 02-03-2020 12:23 PM

surely it matters more how much soap you use or how regularly you wash them rather than how long you hold them under the tap for

bots 02-03-2020 12:30 PM

it's also dependent on the rate of water flow from the tap ... but hey ho

I would have thought that the length of time they're talking about is for how long you're rubbing the soap around your hands before you wash it off under the tap?

Crimson Dynamo 02-03-2020 12:35 PM

It's not realistic

they are going to turn the entire population in to OCD recluses :worry:

I always spend a good amount of time washing my hands. I have a weak immune system and it really makes a difference. I learned how to do it properly at the hospital when I was ten and my first niece was born but I NEVER see other people doing it correctly.

Instructions from the WHO

1. Wet your hands with clean, running water (warm or cold), turn off the tap, and apply soap.
2. Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails.
3. Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum the “Happy Birthday” song from beginning to end twice.
4. Rinse your hands well under clean, running water.
5. Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them.

You don't just develop OCD out of nowhere, it is debilitating.

I was in a toilet in a bar in Texas one time and this girl came out of the toilet and came over to me and said "Don't judge me for not washing my hands" so weird, why not just wash them and then I won't judge you, you filthy bitch! Literally would have taken her as long as telling me that

so one imagines that you have to then disinfect taps after you wash?

and car doors, front door handles, bathroom door handle?

this all after you have washed your hands as the virus can stay on hard surfaces for 5 days

no

I am saying that if you have been to work and the advice is to wash hands when you get home (and lets face it you have touched your face and mouth umpteen times in the car) presumably one would need to disinfect the steering whel, car door inner, front door, bathroom door and taps after you wash your hands?

Well you can't realistically go around sterilising everything but washing your hands is something you can realistically do. I'm sure it all helps. Let's do nothing because we can't do everything is a defeatist and unhelpful attitude imo
