The pair went on to marry in August 2006 just months after Chantelle won the series. However, they announced the end of their marriage 10 months later.

Now in an interview with New magazine, the former couple revealed that they are friends again as they looked back on their relationship.

Speaking about their feelings for each other, Chantelle explained: "I just think for me there will always be something. I will always love you."

Preston added: "And we've been through something that's almost so mad."

However, the pair have no plans to get back together and are instead happy just being friends.

"I think it would ruin a really important relationship as it stands," Preston said.

"It has been a really useful thing to have a blunt voice – someone who I can just call who will tell me, no bull****, what's going on."
