Can the U2U feature be disabled?

I would like to turn off the U2U feature. Is there any way to do this besides putting every member in the ignore list?

Mrluvaluva 18-06-2007 04:21 PM

You getting harassed?

lily. 18-06-2007 04:22 PM

No.

Mrluvaluva 18-06-2007 04:23 PM

Well what's the reason?

lily. 18-06-2007 04:24 PM

Because the drama llama has taken up residence in mine.

Mrluvaluva 18-06-2007 04:26 PM

Oh I see. Can't you tell the "drama llama" to do one?

lily. 18-06-2007 04:29 PM

No, because it's not just one individual member. Do you have the answer to the question Barry? LoL

Bells 18-06-2007 05:14 PM

It'd be interesting if it could be made optional - I wouldn't mind that either.

Crystal-Rose 18-06-2007 05:15 PM

why does it need to be taken off
if you dont want to use it
just ignore it :conf:

cgimusic 18-06-2007 05:21 PM

No It Can't. And shouldn't be. It is an ecential tool for members to communicate.

Mark 18-06-2007 05:37 PM

It's not currently a feature possible, and something that's unlikely to be added.

In response to Crystal-Rose and cgimusic: My query was for it to be taken off individual profiles. I don't wish for it to be removed from the site, but I was enquiring as to whether there was an option to disable my own.

In response to Mark: Thanks for your response. I guess I'll just have to ignore mine.

In response to Ash: I think you got what I was meaning.. :spin:

If ats one user you can ignore them. Click U2U then Ignore List then enter the people you would like to ignore.

I think Stropz means putting a ban on someone from being able to use the u2u system as they are in some way abusing it.

lily. 18-06-2007 07:25 PM

Actually no Dan. I just wanted mine off so that I can neither send or receive.

I could ignore it of course, but that's guna be difficult cuz if I see that msgs are there, I will want to read them.

Mark 18-06-2007 07:27 PM

We can, and already do, ban people from being able to send U2U's.

We cannot however physically remove the U2U feature from selected profiles without some hard work :)

Oh, well the best solution is really to just put those on ignore who are making you feel this way.

Surely you cannot have a problem with many of the people who send you u2u's?

lily. 18-06-2007 07:30 PM

I know that you can ban ppl from using it and if someone in particular was harassing me I would let you know.

I figured on it being a big job to add it as an option, and didn't really expect it to be added (especially since only one person wants it). I just wondered if there was maybe an existing way it could be turned off. But, thanks for replying anyway.

If someone on the TIBB forum receives U2U's off another forum member which are nasty & threatening, then it should be reported to a mod or admin.

Removing the system off the forum would be a real shame for all the members here.

Many members make some good friends because of U2Uing each other. I have really found some lovely people on here & without the U2U facility, it would be a real disappointment.

It is hard to really get to know members without it.

Also, how could you contact a mod or admin, if you need advice or have a problem? (It just wouldn't work.)

I know that many do use Yahoo & MSN as an alternative way of communicating, but to U2U on this forum is easier & better & safer too.

I would advise it personally:thumbs:

The problem is Stropz how could I harrass you if the feature was removed, answer me that one?

I think people should think carefully before sending U2U's that might be construed as being inciteful, threatening, or bullying in any way as it is not acceptable on this forum and believe me we will not hesitate to act when informed of such things.

Already we are aware that "certain" individuals are "possibly" not using it appropriately so are investigating things further as was requested in the lounge!

In the mean time Stropz I am gonna bug the life out of you :cheer2:

lily. 18-06-2007 08:27 PM

Why have several people responded to me as though I have asked for the feature to be removed from the forum?

Haven't I made myself clear? I wished to know if I could remove it from my profile, so that I couldn't send or receive U2Us. That was all. I wasn't looking for it to be removed from anyone else.

Are my posts not legible enough? Do I have to go into seven paragraphs to make myself understood?
