The University of Oxford has partnered with pharmaceutical giant AstraZenenca
The University of Oxford has partnered with pharmaceutical giant AstraZenenca for the development, manufacture and large-scale distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine candidate that is currently being trialled in the UK.
The agreement was announced on Thursday, with the details set to be finalised in the coming weeks. The move will allow for rapid vaccination around the world if the candidate proves to be effective, the university said. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/coron...cid=spartanntp :fc: |
Fingers crossed that it works

Hmm I'm conflicted, they've just been given 20 million of public money to research a vaccine. That would make it ours, if a company has it are the going to attempt to sell it?

[Both partners have agreed to operate on a not-for-profit basis for the duration of the coronavirus pandemic, with only the costs of production and distribution being covered] http://www.ox.ac.uk/news/2020-04-30-...vid-19-vaccine |
That does sound more reassuring than not to be fair, you don't often hear of pharmaceutical companies doing anything for the greater good so this is promising :)

They were always going to have to partner with a large multi national company.in order to mass produce. They are obviously quietly confident that this vax will work. Fingers crossed it does and causes no long term or hidden side effects down the line.
