25. Grimes - Miss Anthropocene https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...thropocene.png This came out only a few months ago but it deserves a place, a tad darker than her sister Art Angels, it's a ethereal album with a lot of interesting songs, my favourites being New Gods, My Name is Dark, You'll Miss Me when I'm Not Around and So Heavy I Fell Through The Earth. It's a concept album about climate change but I mean to be honest, I don't see it lol. There are definitely consistent themes but overall I don't think the concept is clear enough. None the less, an album full of bops with some lush production. 24. Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...f_the_Moon.png People who don't know this album will probably still recognise the cover because it's instantly iconic. It's a great, eerie, ahead of it's time album with fantastic lyrics and production. It starts and ends with a heartbeat, and the album itself is meant to be about life, with themes including money, time and mental illness. My personal favourite is The Great Gig In The Sky where a woman just whails for a few minutes, apparently the band asked her to imagine death whilst she sang and it comes across, Idk I feel like the world is ending when it comes on. Only reason I don't place it higher is because I don't listen to much, it's more an experience and you simply can't listen to songs on there own without the context of the album. When I listen though, I go on a JOURNEY. |
23. Slipknot - Slipknot https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped..._Slipknot2.jpg I mean I have a tattoo of this band so don't be surprised they are here. This is their debut and I feel everyone should hear it. The first six tracks are ****ing insane, like nuts. The second half is still very good, and gives them there own unique sound, and with the songs and masks, for sure had everyone speaking. Not there best album by a long shot, it's still a really good, catchy, dark album. My favourites are Eyeless, Wait and Bleed, Surfacing and Spit it Out PS. I have seen a lot of bands live and these are the best live band |

22. Björk - Post https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...Bjork_Post.png One of her best albums full of gorgeous songs and production. Army of Me, It's Oh So Quiet, Enjoy, Isobel, Cover Me and one of my favourite ever songs Hyperballad. Everything about this song is perfect. The lyrics which is something only Bjork could do, the production, it's a journey, not a song. The lyrics see her envision herself falling off a cliff and what her body would sound like when her landed. Basically, listen to this song now. This is one of those albums with no bad songs, and is a classic for a reason. |

21. Garbage - Version 2.0 https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...ersion_2.0.png One of the best rock albums of the 90's, an album full of bops, Shirley Manson is full of energy, has a great voice and you know she believes what she's singing. My favourites are I Think I'm Paranoid and When I Grow Up |
20. Fleetwood Mac - Rumours https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...MacRumours.PNG A classic at 20 and it's a classic for a reason. This album chronicles the tensions of the band at the time, including multiple relationships falling apart and you can feel it in the music. Despite the dark edge, it's still a really fun album that's hard to ever get bored of, no bad song exists on this album, plus it contains one of my favourite ever songs in The Chain, which probably details the breaking down relationships the best of every song on the album, as well as being catchy and memorable. My favourites are The Chain, Don't Stop, Go Your Own Way, Second Hand News and Dreams 19. Korn - Korn https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...-Korn-Korn.jpg I don't know if anyone on this forum will have ever heard this album, but, give it a try. It's metal yes, but also includes rapping and funk. It's known for creating the much derided 'nu metal' genre, and sure most of the albums frm that genre are awful, this one was great and innovative. The themes on the album are dark and in the darkest song I have ever heard, in Daddy, child abuse. Also: creepiest album cover ever My favourites are Blind, Ball Tongue, Clown and Faget. |

18. Neck Deep - Life's Not Out To Get You https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...to_Get_You.jpg Pop punk at it's finest. If you love old Blink 182, Green Day type music that's just fun bops with catchy choruses, listen to this. Also, another amazing live band, had the best time seeing these lot. My favourites are Citizens of Earth, Can't Kick Up The Roots, Kali Ma, Serpents, December, I Hope This Comes Back To Haunt You and Rock Bottom 17. A Day To Remember - Homesick https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...erHOMESICK.jpg An amazing metalcore album, basically a lot of fun catchy pop stuff meets metal riffs. This is one of the first slightly metal albums I got into, so I owe a lot to it for helping shape my music taste. My favourites are My Life For Hire, I'm Made of Wax Larry, What Are You Made Of?, NJ Legion Iced Tea, Mr Highway's Thinking About The End, Have Faith In Me, Welcome To The Family, Another Song About The Weekend and If It Means A Lot To You. |
