Dominic Cummings PM’s top adviser broke lockdown rules TWO times

Quote:

Dominic Cummings travelled hundreds of miles from London to County Durham during the lockdown when he had virus symptoms, the BBC has been told.
A source close to the PM's chief aide confirmed reports he and his wife went to his parents' home to self-isolate.

But the BBC's Laura Kuenssberg said she had been told Mr Cummings did not break government guidance because he and his wife stayed in a separate building.
The story was first reported by the Mirror and Guardian newspapers.
Labour said No 10 needed to provide a "very swift explanation" for Mr Cummings' actions.

"If accurate, the prime minister's chief adviser appears to have breached the lockdown rules. The government's guidance was very clear: stay at home and no non-essential travel," a spokesman said.
"The British people do not expect there to be one rule for them and another rule for Dominic Cummings."

The Scottish National Party's Westminster leader Ian Blackford said Mr Cummings should resign or be dismissed by Boris Johnson.
"This is a key test of leadership for Boris Johnson. People must have confidence that the Tory government is following its own rules - not being investigated by the police for breaking them," he said.

And Ed Davey, acting leader of the Liberal Democrats, added: "If Dominic Cummings has broken the guidelines he will have to resign, it is as simple as that."
The Mirror and the Guardian reported Mr Cummings, the former Vote Leave chief who was the architect of the PM's Brexit strategy, had been approached by the police.

A resign immediately needs to take place.

How did they manage to keep this quiet for so long? They'll downplay if now it's so long after the fact. Nothibg will happen to him you know how it is one rule for them and another for the plebs.

He has to go.

Makes me so angry. I haven't seen my grandparents for months but this guy thinks its ok to travel hundreds of miles to visit his elderly parents INDOORS WHILE HE HAD THE VIRUS. A joke.

Greg! 23-05-2020 12:49 AM

His childcare excuse is laughable. If he and his wife were too ill to look after their kid at home how were they well enough to drive from London to Durham, a journey that takes hours??

What difference does it make if they stayed in a different house? , what does he mean...like a holiday home or annex, travelling to another part of the country was not allowed and staying in a place that was not your main abode wasn’t allowed and still isn’t and the fact he had symptoms so took the virus with him as well I wonder if he stopped to fill up at a petrol station or to use the facilities or did he cross his legs for the duration

He needs to go

No he has said he is not going.
He did for his 4 year old kid to be safe
and he has not broken rules

Nothing wrong in getting your Child safe.

MTVN 23-05-2020 08:25 AM

A great scoop for the Guardian and Mirror, think this probably does make his position untenable but if there's anyone who could survive something like this it's Cummings

arista 23-05-2020 08:29 AM

Of course
Labour are Fools on this
all Dom was doing was getting his kid safe.

And the SNP fat fella
lost his chance by being silly on BBC1AM

AnnieK 23-05-2020 08:34 AM

His parents are in their 70s and therefore should have been shielding.....absolute disgrace. Selfish and irresponsible. Nothing will happen,he may resign publicly but he will probably continue quietly in a salaried "advisory" capacity until the furore dies down.
