Drag Race season 12 finale: spoiler thread (you've been warned)

okay, so a very reliable source on the Drag Race spoilers subreddit (who has accurately spoiled each episode this season in great detail the day before they aired - apparently they get sent the episodes in advance?) has posted the following after watching the finale, including who apparently wins:

Spoiler:

"Hi all, so I have some work to do so I can't do a full recap just yet. But I skipped to the end and here's some quick details:

Survivor by Destiny's Child final lip sync with all 3 finalists

I don't immediately get the reference Crystal is making with her lip sync outfit; it's an orange wig, pink gloves, and lime green bow embellishments. That's not the full picture but again i dont really know what else to compare it to

Gigi is wearing a Dorothy-inspired look

Jaida is wearing an orange look that has a reveal

And the winner is...."

[extra spoiler tag added by me, in case you accidentally clicked the first one]

Spoiler:

"Jaida Essence Hall"

There's always a chance that this person received a decoy edit of the episode (or have decided to lie for the hell of it) so feel free to take it with a pinch of salt, but as I said they've been 100% spot-on with everything else they've posted up to this point

well well well!

is that the winner of the lipsync or of the entire show?

This was the final lip sync so both, presumably

The user will probably post a more in-depth recap later, so if there's anything that needs to be cleared up they'll do so

praying this is true

For reference, this is what the same person posted the day before the one-woman show episode aired, so they obviously have some kind of insider access to the show that us plebeians don't:

lol. broc-ally is back back back again. they dont show all 5 minutes of the sets, its more like 3-4. except SP's which they show about 2-3 minutes too but sksksk they give a time elapsed thing in the bottom corner like "4 minutes" "6 minutes" "13 minutes".

"Between Two Parents" personally, i thought jackie's performance was just okay. felt long winded but the judges enjoyed it and praised her for being vulnerable.

"Phenomenal Phil, Exotic Dance Instructor" crystal was very confident and had the strongest character that she really commit to. it had a tiger king vibe to it in a weird way imo.

"Cookout With Your Cheeks Out" heidi's is all over the place. she switches between characters in her story like every ten seconds and it gets hard to follow.

"Welcome Aboard Brimstone Airways" gigi calls an audience member karen, which is accidentally funny for being so topical i guess lol. she stumbles a bit through it, and its overall a pretty stiff performance. the judges think the concept was there, but she just didnt commit enough

"Bubbles and [Redacted]" i guess evidently its funny? we see the audience and judges laughing throughout, but they edit it with the time elapse to be shady so its hard to grasp a lot of the jokes happening.

"The 'P' in Pageant" there's an awkward silence for a while and then jaida jokes like "oh wow yall are not feeling it tonight huh" which lifted the energy a little, but then theres the pee gag and its weird and overall there's not many jokes

i think i do understand why its jaida vs heidi, but i think [Redacted] vs Heidi wouldve made more sense. i wonder if they knew [Redacted] would lose to either jaida and heidi in a lip sync so they saved her for story.

Ru gives all the girls overall praise at the end and says "I wish I could keep you as the top 6 forever"

Ru calls Jackie and Gigi as Safe, then Crystal as the winner. Um i honestly dont know how to call [Redacted]'s decision. She's called as safe without any dramatic tension whether she'd be in the bottom 2 so it feels like Safe, or a soft Low.

Jaida OWNS the stage during the lip sync, and Heidi keeps up but there's probably a side of her that sees the writing on the wall. like it was her 90% while Jaida gave 110%.

There's no touching wrap up with Heidi's last name storyline. But she signs the lip stick message as "Heidi Something"

Preview for next episode: Ru's explanation of the challenge is "you have big shoes to fill...and i do mean big shoes" but idk what that means. i think it might still be a Rumix? There's no preview of them recording vocals but it shows them doing choreography training and when theyre on the main stage wearing their entrance looks its definitely during a performance.

I really did expect this. I'm very happy with the result! She screamed potential winner from the moment the cast was announced!

More spoilers (or rather just a description of the episode):

Okay I really don't want to spoil all the gags in the performances! But here's a rundown:

They do individual interviews and each top 3 get videos from loved ones. Each interview ends with them saying something to their younger selves [so the thing where they talk to their baby pictures]

There's some cute mini-group performances from the whole cast; a tribute to frontline workers, and a parody of Cover Girl about voting

There's also a touching tribute to Jacqueline Wilson where we get testimonials from past and present Ru girls

The 1st of the 5 lip syncs is all 3 doing a 'close up' [aka just their head] lip sync to Bring Back My Girls

Then each girl does an individual lip sync. Each one was asked to 'produce, direct, and star' so each performance is very custom to each girl with original back drops and edits they seem to have done themselves:

Crystal performs to Like a Bird by Nelly Furtado (yall are not ready...)

Gigi performs to Take On Me by Aha

Jaida performs to Get Up by Ciara

All of the performances are so perfect for each queen, it was actually really cool to see what these queens could do when given the creative control

MC is Heidi (and no one is surprised). The queens voted themselves, and it was filmed during the reunion apparently.

And...this year every contestant is getting a $2K tip (courtesy of Pantene)

Each queen was sent the same backdrop and equipment to do the final lip sync (its just a silver fringe curtain lol, mickeys weho is quaking!)

Also, I understand why Ru is wearing this type of mask again (with the hat). Hint: Raven and Delta can't get to Ru's place to do Ru's makeup and wig respectively.
