LaLaLand 01-06-2020 12:16 AM

Literally watched it for the second time myself last night with my parents (their first time seeing it) and after a shaky start of them not being really into it by about half way they were absolutely glued and even commented how good it was when it finished.

It's incredible. A terrifyingly believable depiction of a broken man's spiral into insanity. One of the best "character studies" I think I've seen in a movie, closely followed by De Niro in "Taxi Driver". :clap2:

Toy Soldier 01-06-2020 09:59 PM

I haven't seen it. I'm scared to watch it because everything I've heard about it makes me feel like it's basically "Incel: the movie".

Pretty accurate description tbf.

Oliver_W 01-06-2020 10:05 PM

Well it's a bit more than that. It's more like Downtrodden Peasant: The Movie

I would say "incel" is more than a bit more. "Peasant" is simplifying it. :hee:

His social class has the most influence toward his actions though. "Incel" removes a fair bit of nuance.

Fetch The Bolt Cutters 01-06-2020 10:34 PM

Of course oliver enjoyed it :skull:

James 01-06-2020 10:52 PM

Powerless boy becomes powerless man, gets increasingly aggressive to compensate? Isn't that the life narrative of every incel on Reddit? :joker:

'cept they just mostly rage online and wouldn't physically do anything at all. So is it more like "Incel Power Fantasy: The Movie"?

**** I think I'm going to have to watch it :hehe:
