A question regarding coronavirus during the protests

I know how important the protests are

But with how many people are taking part in them is the peak going to go back up again

Because the protests are happening in this country too

Smithy 02-06-2020 10:07 PM

The rate was already going to go back up because of the incompetence of the government, let’s not try to blame protesters as apposed to ignorant people who have flouted the rules for weeks

I think a second wave was always going to inevitable here tbh

That said I would imagine large crowds of any kind will have an impact, we see the photos of overcrowded beaches and beauty spots being reported on as being a danger and breeding ground for the virus spreading and the r number to rise again so I dont see why protest crowds would be any different

Strictly Jake 02-06-2020 10:11 PM

Im not blaming them. Everyone knows what side im on

Im just geniunely concerned about all these people that are most likely going to get it now

Oliver_W 02-06-2020 10:13 PM

The protests are probably gonna make the second wave higher than it would have been.

Denver 02-06-2020 10:17 PM

The virus will disappears but the pandemic of racism toward the black race will not unless action is taken

DouglasS 02-06-2020 10:17 PM

It will definitely accelerate the cases sadly

We wouldn’t stand a chance anyway, plus most people at the protests are wearing facemasks and/or observing social distancing

People are so stupid! Got a beach round the corner from me but there are so many people around I avoid it! (Smithy as your from the same town as me you will know why I wouldnt want to be on a beach with these people!)

I have seen most wearing masks at the protests but a lot arent and it looks very very crammed in(im talking about America I havent seen many photos of uk ones)

Both these and people going to protests will help the virus spread

Strictly Jake 02-06-2020 10:28 PM

I just think the lockdown was a complete waste of time

All the hard work we did has gone out of the window

We are all being rushed back to work etc

Everyone is seeing friends and family despite scientists saying its too dangerous

Add to that mass gatherings at beaches and protests

The 11 weeks we were stuck in was for nothing

Can you please tell me which part about people going out and protesting police brutality and black people's rights to be treated like human beings is sad?

James 02-06-2020 10:30 PM

I just want to point out the beach photos - apart from the second one - are taken from a low angle, and from a distance, which makes everyone look closer together.

The press were doing that with pictures recently.

God I wouldn’t want to be on that beach even if there wasn’t a pandemic

The part where they might catch a virus which has been shown to be more deadly to BAME people?

America doesn't even have strict lockdown that other countries had and while other countries are getting less cases and less deaths (uk included but with people going to beaches and forgetting the social distance rules we might get a second wave) america's numbers are not getting better and have been the same for weeks

I actually think the numbers may be higher in america than has been stated

When we see how big the fees are to be in hospital there I think it would stop a lot of people going to a hospital and therefore the case numbers would go unreported

I didn’t say it was sad. I am just saying that the protestors Are sadly going to be more exposed to the virus and more likely to catch it and therefore more likely to then spread it To vulnerable people/relatives

Surely more people catching/spreading coronavirus is enough to understand this post?

A stand against the racism can nit wait much longer

People literally pick and choose when they want to care about lockdown / corona and it really shows.

Actually the worst part is people are swimming in the sea which is morecambe bay the same sea that people in blackpool are swimming in. Seen as though blackpool is now in the top 2 covid hotspots of the UK thats a very bad idea. What if they swallow the water that an infected person has swam in. Ewwwww

This isnt aimed at me is it? As I made this thread. Not in the aim of offending not in the name of blaming but simply out of concern. Also I havent broke lockdown rules. Apart from being a key worker and having to go to work a few times recently to clean a school and the odd shopping trip to get essentials like milk etc . I havent even been out for walks. Me and my family have been in the house or garden
