Time to delete Facebook, Insta and WhatsApp

Loads of people have quit facebook and saying that Mark Zuckerberg lied about banning people who incite violence yet bent over backwards for Trump and his extremist groups by allowing them to post what they want when they want without punishment

I don’t think deleting all the apps will benefit people who aren’t able to see anybody during this lockdown in the pandemic and use these apps to socialise and prevent loneliness

Properly speaking, outside of common decency the Zuck has little incentive to remove anything from Facebook, as under US law they're not liable for extremist material posted there.

Websites which are "editorialized" count as publications, and it would be they themselves (Daily Mail, BuzzFeed, whatever) who would be liable. But on blogging platforms, forums, or social media sites, it always comes down to whoever posted it.

With this in mind, it'd be more in Zuckerberg's interest to keep his hands off, whether or not that's the right thing to do.

I dont use facebook it stopped being interesting in like 2010

But Instagram and Whatsapp have been lifesavers for me during the lockdown

Also I have been watching a lot of the footage of the protests etc on Instagram it helps to spread the message if anything

A lot of videos showing what's really happening during the protests are viral on fb and insta, they certainly arent being shown on mainstream media so the people that use the platforms are definitely raising awareness

By all means delete ALL public social media because it is absolutely toxic... but it's not really realistic to not use at least one messaging app. So keep WhatsApp if you use it - they don't make revenue from it anyway (no ads).

That's a good point - if you're unhappy with an outlet's handling of stuff, you could do what #HopeNotHate does and approach their advertisers.

The reason they are not shown is because vthey are misleading and ambiguous. Any editor worth his or her salt know it's dangerous to show such things to impressionable people.this is what causes riots and death.

Traditional media are bound by standard and watchdogs. Sadly twitter et Al all not
