Natalie Rowe thinks BB producers gave her an "angry black girl narrative"

I mean there is some truth to this, I remember her having that one civil, interesting brexit chat with Andy and Jason but the show predominantly focused on her angry moments but that was the purpose of c5 big brother.

The editing definitely played up to that trope, but then she did provide more than ample moments of her calling people names and shouting people down, so

Saph 16-06-2020 05:33 PM

not natalie :skull: shes not the best example tbh

Daniel. 16-06-2020 05:35 PM

She was horrible

Amy Jade 16-06-2020 05:47 PM

She kinda gave them the footage though, her rage at Jayne was so strange.

Braden 16-06-2020 05:49 PM

She was the epitome of that stereotype :joker:

Headie 16-06-2020 05:53 PM

She was a lovely, kind-hearted soul  Shame on the producers for doing her dirty!

Always kind and respectful until others started on her, as anyone would be :fan:

Maybe she should be more conscious of how SHE is contributing to that narrative, think of the people she's representing on television and not provide the angry/aggressive material.

But if she did that, she'd have no career.

DouglasS 16-06-2020 06:03 PM

She is the definition of angry black woman. I feel bad for black women who could be perceived as one because of the likes of her playing into the stereotype

Jigs 16-06-2020 06:06 PM

Perhaps she shouldn't have had 20 fights in the first week if she didn't want to feed into that type of narrative.

An icon regardless

Being a vile bitch probably didn’t help

Epic. 16-06-2020 06:18 PM

Maybe she shouldn't have spread false rumours and lies about Hughie and Jayne then

Are they still editing her outside of the house?

In her fairness though, how many black girls did BB actually cast that didn't fit that stereotype?

With love island I can think of Samira as that example but with BB literally no black girl comes to mind. Not to dig but people on this forum seem to like the attributes of that stereotype so I guess BB producers wanted to just feed into that.

Sadly with Shows like BB is that as entertaining as the Show can be from a viewer perspective, the production didn't sometimes know when to let up on the demonization of certain contestants, to the point of ruining some of their lives once they left the house.

Sadly for Natalie she was just another victim of the Big Brother Game in that sense, I personally do think that that particular year was really blatant in who they wanted to win anyway so the Production just went in extra hard on Natalie sadly.

Literally can't even remember who she is?!

Regardless of the "types" of people BB chooses, the fact she IS a stereotype that would attract them is one of the issues she's not seeing. She's criticising something without looking at how SHE feeds those depictions.

Captain.Remy 17-06-2020 02:01 PM

Out of all people who would talk about this, she's the one? Really?
She literally contributed to that stereotype for no reason at all. She created all the drama in the first place.

It's easy to blame the editing when you've been a nasty person throughout your stay in the house. You said what you said in the house, own up to it and get over it. No amount of positive editing could have made her look less of a nasty housemate.
