Alexandra Burke speaks out about racism she suffered on X Factor and Strictly

So shocking to hear some of the stuff she's been through, including being told to bleach her skin :eyes: And it's very clear that the trash journalist she's talking about is D*n W**tt*n smh.

Dan is trash. I loved Alexandra in the bodyguard. I'm shocked she got bad treatment since she won it.

She doesn't really discuss bad treatment on the X factor (bar Louis saying he doesn't want 2 black artists or something) it was mostly once she entered the industry.

Dan Wootton is utter scum, he tried to destroy Alex on Strictly and it was literally the at the same time her mother passed away.

Liam- 20-06-2020 08:56 AM

Dan Wooton is evil

Oliver_W 20-06-2020 10:01 AM

wtf? I thought this was gonna be another moaning about nothing "they portrayed me as angry" thing, but who the hell tells someone to bleach their skin?

Daniel-X 20-06-2020 10:50 AM

Dan Wootton is scum of the earth. So sad to hear of all these experiences wtf

I think you have that covered.

Daniel-X 20-06-2020 10:52 AM

Strictly and the BBC were ****ing ****ty too for not offering her any support when she was grieving/facing all that horrible trolling. Ffs when will reality shows start looking after their contestants.

+1

but in all fairness, in the world of gossip tabloids you got attention seeking, media hungry leeches like this Wootton

here in Netherlands you got Angela de Jong, who is overall disliked by all of our celebs, whom also writes very bad things about many celebs in her column

Oliver_W 22-06-2020 10:54 AM

Some of the other things she talked about - not being allowed to have certain hair or release certain songs - aren't really unusual; I can't imagine One Direction would have been allowed to have shaved heads or mohawks, or release death metal music

What a way to sell the Fantasy version of One Direction to me.

The Story Of My Life Death Metal style would be epic.

Erm, no. It is different when she's told not to do it because she would be "too black for white people".

If 1D did what I said, they'd be too "hardcore" for their teen girl audience  X Factor winners are middle of the road and generic, and that's how they wanted her.

Tom4784 22-06-2020 12:57 PM

Oliver, there's a bit of a difference between changing your music styles to appeal to an audience and being asked to 'tone down' (The **** that even means) your race to appeal to white people.

Cherie 22-06-2020 12:59 PM

she won, so the white people didn't find her too black then?

Tom4784 22-06-2020 01:05 PM

The producers took issue with her race and tried to 'tone down her blackness'. That's discrimination and racism. It's nothing to do with her winning or losing, it was just the excuse the producers used to discriminate.

LeatherTrumpet 22-06-2020 01:16 PM

Awful woman

You're inventing things now.

She was told to tone down her "blackness" so as to not put off racist white folk. Nothing to do with music styles.

She kind of is  doesn't mean she deserves racism, but being victimised by a crappy industry doesn't make her a better person.

Liam- 22-06-2020 02:04 PM

Why is she a bad person?

Strictly Jake 22-06-2020 04:30 PM

I have always really liked her

Marsh. 22-06-2020 04:32 PM

Never really been a fan of her myself but it's not really the point in the thread. If that is literally the only contribution you have to the topic of the thread - she's awful - then why bother.
