Support for Scottish independence surges

Legend Nicola queen of Scots did that!

arista 05-07-2020 12:37 PM

The PM says NO.

joeysteele 05-07-2020 01:04 PM

I think as this pandemic eases, with the prospect of this hard-line government in place, with at best only another hung parliament in 2024.

Brexit firmly in place too.

I can see Scotland leaning stronger to independence.
Of all the leaders of all parties across the UK, for me Nicola Sturgeon has shone for her honesty, compassion and competence.

No UK government can or should deny and ignore the will expressed by the Scottish people.

The Holyrood elections will likely add strength to this and increase further the stature of Nicola Sturgeon.
So whatever Scotland comes to want as to independence, I hope it is granted them.

There's been 2 recent great leaders in Scottish politics.
Ruth Davidson.

Also Nicola Sturgeon who quite honestly, I wish was actually leading the UK too, in place of the choices we have now.

Nicola and Angela :clap1:

Denver 05-07-2020 01:14 PM

Yes cut them off put borders up and take away every bit of business and money that belongs to the UK

Liam- 05-07-2020 01:17 PM

Boris has a thing for subverting democracy so I’m sure he’ll find some way to block independence even if the majority call for it

Yes Slick Liam

Tom4784 05-07-2020 01:21 PM

It's only fair they get another referendum, Brexit is a fundamental change for the UK and Scotland flatly voted against it. They should get a say in whether they do this with us or forge their own path.

Acting like a spiteful ex won't do much, especially when they'll probably be in a more solid financial position within the EU while we're floundering as the US ****s us over.

We need all the help we can get, we should respect their choice and seek to maintain a good relationship because we'll need all the help we can get.

Brother Leon 05-07-2020 01:24 PM

Can’t blame them.

Can London join you please? We’ll play nice.

Scotland has been a dumping ground from all parties making up the UK government for decades at least.

Testing out their more unsavoury policies, such as Thatcher and her poll tax.

Money that belongs to the UK you say.
You do realise Scotland is at present part of that UK.

Labour in the 70s and then the Cons afterwards creamed off near all the asset of North sea oil.
It's the Scots who ought to be livid.

After decades of having their resources acquired with nowhere near the right return back.
From both Con and Labour governments.

No wonder the SNP now dominate there and rightly so.

I still say too again, if the Holyrood elections really go Nicola Sturgeon's way.

It would be both a desperately, idiotic dangerous government and PM who refused another referendum on independence.

The Queen can't say no..
She has to do what her government when elected people her.
Not what she thinks or wants.

There's no guarantee now, that this government will have anything other than a much smaller majority in 2024, or even no majority at all.

Don't underestimate Nicola Sturgeon, she is formidable in a really good and strong way.

bots 05-07-2020 05:48 PM

Scotland relies heavily on the UK for cash, much more so since the last independence vote, just a minor issue

Oh yes... I'm sure sending the army into Scotland will convince the people to stay

Mystic Mock 06-07-2020 05:00 AM

Tbf I can understand why the Scottish feel the way that they do.

However I do feel that the last Referendum would've been the better time to leave as yes both the UK and Scotland would've initially been Economically hit, it wouldn't have been as bad as leaving when we've got to try and cope with Brexit, and also try to recover Economically from the lockdown due to Covid-19.

I'm not surprised by the Survey result, but like with Brexit at the time, I do feel that it would be the wrong time for both the UK and Scotland if Scotland were to leave.
