Staycationing, vacationing or staying put?

Any plans this very strange year?

I just booked a trip at the start of August in Ireland, looking forward to getting away but I think I'll avoid leaving the country this year

GoldHeart 14-07-2020 03:19 PM

Ammi 14-07-2020 03:23 PM

Oh I forgot he was in Spain, how did he cope during the Pandemic? Spain had it pretty bad

Cherie 14-07-2020 03:27 PM

Aw snap was just looking at getting to Spain taking the car and using Le Shuttle...don’t fancy going on a plane or the ferry

Jessica. 14-07-2020 03:27 PM

Sadly no plans to go anywhere

Would you have to drive all the way through France then? That's a fair drive, we did it one time, took around 16 hours I think

..yeah, it was bad over there...he had just moved to a new apartment so felt quite isolated because he didn’t know anyone and obviously the chance to get to know people wasn’t there...I know they were quarantined anyway but, it’s still an unfamiliar surrounding...but he coped brilliantly....he’s amazing...he had some down times but he always pulled himself up quite quickly and has just gone back to work at the office a few weeks ago...he’s starting to socialise a little at weekends but still not that much...he has lots of money in his bank account now though in not being able to do stuff......

It must feel like a lifetime since you saw him, March-June this year felt like about 5 years

Probably spend a night it two somewhere..make it part of the holiday...just researching at the minute...35 minutes to cross the channel and you don’t leave the car ..sounds good to me!

Staying put.
Firmly.

Smithy 14-07-2020 03:34 PM

I want to go home at some point to see my family, but then I’d have to do a 14 day self isolation upon return which just isn’t realistic :/

..yeah it does and there have been quite a few family things that we’ve had to put on hold and couldn’t celebrate...I have to say that I doubt I’ll be socially distancing from him either when I see him, it’ll just be an instinct thing.....

Is that all it is? That's brilliant. We got the ferry over a few years back and decided not to bother booking a hotel, thought we'd just pull into a town when we got tired and find somewhere.........we were like Mary and Joseph trying to find a place to stay, there was some big swimming tournament on and all the hotels were full  Found something eventually though a few towns on

...awww yeah, that’s been the thing/the 14 days and fortunately it won’t apply for us and Spain anymore...I can imagine how much your family must be looking forward to seeing you as well...

Jessica. 14-07-2020 03:38 PM

I haven't been able to see my family since last March, I was supposed to go over at the beginning of May but the flight was cancelled, of course. I miss them very much, I feel bad for not being in their lives for so long.

We had our first sit down meal out at the weekend which nice.

I think people will put local holiday prices up

I think it’s too early yet to think about holidays.

...it just increases the excitement for seeing them when you do though, Jess...it’ll be amazing when you are reignited and you will be....that you’re safe, which you are..is the most important thing to them...

I was thinking of going to the seaside.
Waiting for the weather to improve.
It's not looking too good at the moment.
I miss my family in Italy. Haven't seen them in a year.
