Best Disney Live Action Remake (So Far)?

Wait for the poll :nono:

Lion King and Beauty And The Beast

Tony Montana 15-07-2020 04:14 PM

From the list I've only seen Alice in Wonderland, The Jungle Book and The Lion King. Out of those three, Jungle Book is my favourite.

Alice in Wonderland - although I have only seen

Maleficent
Alice in Wonderland
The Jungle Book
Beauty & The Beast
Dumbo
Aladdin

Shaun 15-07-2020 05:03 PM

only seen Aladdin, Dumbo and Alice in Wonderland, and of those I only enjoyed Dumbo.

Haven’t like any except alice in wonderland but not really a fan of Disney anyway

Beauty and the Beast, they changed and added enough of the story for it to not feel like a pointless remake (cough cough, Lion King) and most of the new stuff works well and they even fix one of the plotholes of the original. The only bad thing that sticks out to me is that the new versions of the old songs are terrible.

Niamh. 15-07-2020 08:31 PM

What was the plothole they fixed Dezzy?

That Beast solo song was not the tea either

Beauty and The Beast and Jungle Book.

I could make arguments that both are better than the originals. The rest I can’t even entertain the idea tbh.

In the original, we see that the Beast got cursed as a man but to break the curse, he had to win Belle's love by his 21st birthday and Lumiere in 'Be My Guest' mentions that they've been cursed for ten years which would have made the beast 10/11 when he was cursed.

In the remake, they dropped the birthday stuff and went with the idea that the curse didn't allow them to age and that everyone in the town forgot about them until the curse was broken.

The Josh Groban version of the song is quite nice but Daniel Stevens is not a singer.

I have zero recollection of the Cinderella live action, seriously. Didn't even know they'd done it wtf :omgno:

Strictly Jake 16-07-2020 07:04 AM

You forgot snow white and the huntsman....

But to be fair so did I....the only thing I remember about that was that ray winstone was a dwarf and that it was the most miserable snow white they could ever have cast

I actually have enjoyed all of these movies but beauty and the beast is the best. Feel little mermaid has potential to top it though

Nicky91 16-07-2020 07:29 AM

haven't seen any of these apart from loads of Cinderella movies

of which the Cinderella movie with Dougray Scott being my favourite one

I think it had Cate Blanchett as one of the ugly sisters.

Beauty and the Beast

Mitchell 16-07-2020 08:10 PM

Lady and the tramp was great and Cinderella was good, the rest meh

Oliver_W 16-07-2020 08:11 PM

Most of them are horrible tbh. Lion King is completely pointless - none of the vocal performances are better in the remake, and it generally felt like a boring rehash. It's quite an achievement to have Beyonce on your soundtrack and for it to suck...

They'd have been better if they lifted the audio from the original and made new "live action" CGI footage for it.
