this season marks the debut of David Beckham's team Inter Miami

few other names you are familiar with probably

Montreal Impact coach is Arsenal legend Thierry Henry

former Everton player Adrian Heath is Minnesota United FC manager

captain of Orlando City SC is former Manchester United player Nani

Mystic Mock 17-07-2020 09:34 AM

I want Inter Miami to join whatever league we're gonna be in next season.:hehe:

Nicky91 02-08-2020 11:27 AM

am kinda surprised at our semi finalists

Philadelphia Union basically was made because the city was not represented when MLS was made in 1996, first effort to bring soccer there was in 2001

however they were only added to the competition since 2008

Portland Timbers exist since 2009

its coach is New York Cosmos legend Giovanni Savarese

Minnesota United FC exist since 2015

Orlando City SC exist since 2013, basically becoming first Florida team again that year since Tampa Bay Mutiny, Miami Fusion, and Orlando also are the first Brazilian owned team in the MLS

Nicky91 19-04-2021 09:47 AM

2021 season

few notable facts

Atlanta United (current manager is Gabriel Heinze, former real madrid, manchester united star)

FC Cincinnati (current manager is Jaap Stam, former dutch international team, manchester united, ajax, psv star)

Inter Miami (David Beckham's team, current manager in charge Phil Neville)

some of more experienced US managers in current season are Bob Bradley (currently in charge of Los Angeles FC) Bruce Arena (currently in charge of New England Revolution) and overall with really most experience in MLS is Peter Vermes (currently in charge of Sporting Kansas City)

Nicky91 19-04-2021 01:40 PM

nominees for player of the week (for week1)

Ruidiaz (Seattle Sounders FC)

Chicharito (Javier Hernandez) (LA Galaxy)

Beric (Chicago Fire)

Brault-Guillard (CF Montreal)

(they do this similar to NFL's MvP kinda smart of them to include some bits of NFL into MLS to boost popularity of the competition)

Nicky91 20-04-2021 01:45 PM

inbefore MLS becomes a better quality competition, more loyal teams towards their fans than any competition in europe

can see that happen also tbh

Nicky91 28-09-2022 09:06 AM

Nicky91 28-09-2022 09:07 AM

this competition concept is similar to australian rugby league basically

doesn't matter where you finish in the competition part, because even if you finish 5th or even 7th, you can still be the overall winner, in the cup, knockout phase

Nicky91 28-09-2022 09:08 AM

not a good start for Wayne Rooney, his DC United last place overall too and eliminated from second stage of this season

Beckham's Inter Miami still in with chances of going to the play offs, but it'll be a close call fight if they can pull that off or not

Nicky91 20-10-2022 08:47 AM

september/october player of the month award went to

brazilian Brenner from FC Cincinnati

play off round

New York Red Bulls - FC Cincinnati 1-2

New York City FC - Inter Miami 3-0

CF Montreal - Orlando City 2-0

LA Galaxy - Nashville SC 1-0

FC Dallas - Minnesota United 1-1 (Dallas wins after penalty's with 5-4)

Austin FC - Real Salt Lake 2-2 (Austin wins after penalty's with 3-1)

conference semi finals

Philadelphia Union vs FC Cincinnati

New York City vs CF Montreal
-----------------------------
Los Angeles FC vs LA Galaxy

FC Dallas vs Austin FC

Nicky91 20-10-2022 08:48 AM

supporter's shield, overall standings were won by Los Angeles FC

Nicky91 22-10-2022 08:13 AM

This game was FIRE! also look at that crowd atmosphere there, makes me so emotional how much progress this league has went through recent years in terms of popularity

the Battle of LA

unlucky Cinci but proper defending job by Philly and one moment of luck is enough

now we have the texas battle (Dallas vs Austin) and Montreal vs Nashville still come in these cup play offs

and winners of eastern and western will face each other in the overall final, sort of ''super bowl'' vibe whom is best of the best national wise

Nicky91 03-11-2022 01:46 PM

what a slayage from LAFC over Austin 3-0

Philadelphia Union kicking City Football Group's arse (New York City) 3-1

so Philadelphia Union will face LAFC in the overall cup final :)

quite a few gems in LAFC squad

but also stars like Carlos Vela, Gareth Bale, former Barca talent Cristian Tello, colombian ace Chicho Arango

Philly has a huge Ghanese talent Aremeyaw Abasa, only 19 yrs old

some of their stars are Daniel Gazdag (Hungary international)

Jamaica internationals Andre Blake, Cory Burke

still young but already a veteran, german defender Kai Wagner

english centre back Jack Elliott

-------------
these are end of season BEST XI of 2022
Quote:

Goalkeeper Defenders Midfielders Forwards Ref
Jamaica Andre Blake, Philadelphia Norway Jakob Glesnes, Philadelphia
Germany Kai Wagner, Philadelphia
United States Walker Zimmerman, Nashville Argentina Luciano Acosta, Cincinnati
Argentina Sebastián Driussi, Austin
Hungary Dániel Gazdag, Philadelphia
Germany Hany Mukhtar, Nashville Argentina Jesús Ferreira, Dallas
United States Brandon Vazquez, Cincinnati
Mexico Carlos Vela, LAFC
.

Nicky91 04-11-2022 08:08 AM

tomorrow the final

Philadelphia Union vs LAFC

Nicky91 04-11-2022 08:12 AM

for the 2023 season, they will have 29 clubs with the addition of new team

St Louis City SC as a expansion team

south african manager (former player) Bradley Carnell

their squad currently consists out of few familiar names too

swiss international goalkeeper Roman Burki

bosnian international left back Selmin Pedro

ownership: The St. Louis City SC ownership group consists of Enterprise Holdings Foundation president Carolyn Kindle and female members of the Taylor family (Enterprise Holdings), and is the first female majority-owned team in MLS. The group also includes CEO of World Wide Technology, Jim Kavanaugh and members of the Kavanaugh family.

Nicky91 05-11-2022 07:32 AM

am really excited for the final tonight

  can Gareth Bale, Carlos Vela win a trophy en route to Qatar? or will Philly Union be a too strong opponent

going to be a close call result i think

Nicky91 06-11-2022 07:25 AM

phenomenal quality of a final!!!!!

omg

LAFC winning the MLS cup for the first time  Gareth Bale scoring the crucial 3-3 equalizer in extra time, in 128th minute sending them into penalty shootouts

Nicky91 06-11-2022 08:00 AM

Giorgio Chiellini, a champions league win, twice euro cups with italy, now also best of the best in america

Gareth Bale, once very important real madrid in a champions league final against Liverpool with awkward moments from liverpool goalie Karius, now super important in america

Cherundolo, from MLS legend as a player, now also successful as coach

Opoku, the ghanese talent btw is from the Attram de Visser academy (Godwin Attram & Piet de Visser)

great crowd atmosphere too with all the flags, chants

but that ref, omg he's weird and he's going to the world cup too, HELP

Messi in the MLS is such a superbly good marketing move from Inter Miami for the league in general

also can Messi make Inter Miami better, since he is very much needed, currently last place in eastern conference

Nicky91 09-06-2023 01:41 PM

meanwhile a impressive debut season from St Louis City SC, 1st in western conference and 4th place overall

Crimson Dynamo 25-08-2023 07:15 AM

Nicky91 25-08-2023 07:25 AM

it'll be a miracle if Messi can turn things around for Miami in the league

i'm giving St Louis good chances for a debut title win, they got a good team already, swiss goalie Burki is a awesome signing for them and their coach Carnell has potential, i would like to see him go to the Premier League i guess, he wouldn't be too bad for a Everton maybe or if Luton survive this year in the PL, to become bit more ambitious

Apparently Miami have to win quite a few games then they’re in the playoffs..

I guess anything’s possible in the play offs as I have no idea how they work .. like a cup final ?
