Dua Lipa with extremist views?

Dua being a extremist :o

Niamh. 21-07-2020 09:43 AM

What's the context of this? It means nothing by itself

Zizu 21-07-2020 09:45 AM

basically about Kosovo's history, relating to Albania

but she doesn't know too much about this, given she emigrated to London at young age, has not experienced Kosovo too well unlike other Kosovars who actually lived there for many many years

Ammi 21-07-2020 09:48 AM

... no more cancellations, Nicky, sorry...cancellations are cancelled...

Captain.Remy 21-07-2020 10:00 AM

Can we stop cancelling people based on tweets?

she just should've not said anything regarding Kosovo's history

yes Kosovo exists from expelled albanians back 100/200 years ago

but Kosovo has good relations with Albania right now, or at least better than they are with other balkan countries (like Serbia, whom they have a political conflict with)

my source for this information, Wikipedia how i look up any country's historical information

Ammi 21-07-2020 10:29 AM

...Dua can’t be cancelled until Shaun has reviewed her Future Nostalgia album...that’s the law...

And you think you're in a better position to say anything about it because....you read that on Wikipedia? k.

Now people are "cancelled" because Twitter and Instagram teenagers said so. But okay, have your own mind.

Dua is just not in a position herself to talk about a country she barely lived in

current generation of Kosovars who live there are actually glad they are their own country, for themselves (sure not everyone recognizes them as a country) but also Albania has accepted them, and they also allow their people to visit them too, as well as musicians from Kosovo are allowed onto Albania's largest music festivals like Festival I Kenges, Kenga Magjike as long as they don't make their songs too political, or at least keep it in a friendly, fun way nothing extreme

Oliver_W 21-07-2020 10:38 AM

To be fair it comes off more as her slamming European "colonisation" rather than current migration.

Considering she comes from an immigrant family herself you would assume so

And her family is from Kosovo, so yeah she's in a position to talk about it regardless of her opinion or the opinion of Twitter teens.
My parents are foreigners too and I lived for a bit in both of their countries. Am I also not in a position to talk about it through my own experience?
Am I less in a position to talk about it than someone who read a page on Wikipedia?

Come on, let's be a little serious here. You might not agree with what she said, but to "cancel" her over that is exaggerated.

fair enough, but to keep going on and on towards Serbia etc is sooo unnecessary, what Kosovo-Serbia both need to do is let go of the past and start opening up to each other, other countries should also just recognize Kosovo as a country since we are in 2020, not like 40 or 50 years back

i am kinda more surprised Dua is this extremistic cause i would never think of her as an extremist before this tweet

i will edit the OP title now i guess, since ''cancelling someone over a tweet'' is not needed

Marsh. 21-07-2020 03:26 PM

Dua's not in a position to talk..... but Nicky is....?

at least i don't spread nazi ideas like the ''Greater Albania''

of course i have no rights or experience what the kosovar people go through on daily basis, what their history was

but i know my place, and same should Dua who was not even born there, just a brief while went to middle school there before heading off to london again from age of 15 till now

wth, girl stop this is getting embarassing. Her family is from that country, she probably was raised with stories and background about what happened/is happening. And she lived there, middle school or not. You don't know what she experienced there as a child.
Good to know you know your place, but don't assume anything about what her place should be. It's not like she's talking about an unknown issue to herself.
What her opinion is, is a different matter. But saying she's not in a position to have one is wrong.

Yes you do know your place. You don't know hers, no matter how much you think you do.

i'm not a girl, i'm a guy

ok chill, i do not know what she did experience there as a child

but shouting things like ''Greater Albania'' as well as that map picture of Kosovo, making it seem bigger than it is, well that can be considered as fascism, extremism

UserSince2005 21-07-2020 08:37 PM

Cancel her.

She doesn't get a free pass just because shes not white.

All racists need to be brought down!!!

Nicky91 22-07-2020 02:01 PM

also said something about this below one of YouTube videos in comments section

i got many replies too lol, basically most saying i am wrong, and many kosovars albanians do support Dua in what she has said here
