The confirmed playable characters (so far) are:

Iron Man
Captain America
Hulk
Black Widow
Thor
Miss Marvel
Hawkeye (The first of four free DLC characters)
Spiderman (Exclusive to Playstation, will be available in 2021)

Basically the game will have an expansive story mode and then a bunch of multiplayer options to which the developers want to keep adding free content for the forseeable.

I wasn't sure about the game until recently but now I'm quite excited to play the beta, the beta begins on the 7th for people who pre-ordered the game and an open beta will begin a week later for playstation players with an open beta for other platforms arriving later.

I was gonna ask if you have to preorder it to play the Beta (which would be incredibly ****ty and pointless :joker:)

I'm a DC guy but this looks like a fun game.

It's brave of them to make Miss Marvel such a focal character, from what I heard no-one really cares about her? But I guess that could change, who cared about Dr Strange before he was in the movies:)

She's a very popular character, it's not surprising that they'd pick her as the main focus when she's become such an important and well loved part of the Marvel universe.

Is she though? When I look on Comichron to see how my faves are doing, Magnificent Ms Marvel is always incredibly low selling tbh. But maybe I'm missing something, I'm more interested in James4 saving Batman and BMB killing Superman than the Marvel side of things :joker:

Marvel comics are suffering across the board, it's not a good indicator of popularity when you consider that Marvel, as a whole, is more than ever a multimedia property. She's been quite loved in the other mediums she's appeared in and she'll likely be a popular part of the MCU when she turns up in her show and in the films.

The closed beta has been fun although the online component is buggy as hell. The Single player missions are quite engaging, the gameplay is like an odd but addictive mix of Arkham and the newest God of War and the multiplayer is very fun when it works.

They give you the basic skill trees to play around with but even then, the trees give you a fair few toys that completely change how you play a character. I'll be interested to see the ability trees when the full game launches.

Yeah, I was planning on cancelling it if I didn't care for the beta.

The closed beta ends at 9PM so you better get to it although I think it'll return every weekend of August so you won't miss out too much.

Is the combat less "clubky" that it looked in the gameplay videos fro a few months back? I thought it all looked good in concept but a little on the sluggish side.

It's very much like God of War's gameplay but faster. I did think the combat was clunky at first but when it clicks it works really well.

The Open Beta is available to download now on PS4 and is scheduled to go live tomorrow at 9pm although last week it went live hours earlier.

Anyone can download the beta and play it.

They officially announced Kate Bishop as a DLC character today, interestingly enough it wasn't the character they wanted to announce. They showed the Black Panther logo and basically said that they wanted to announce him instead but held off out of respect to Chadwick Boseman.

Hm, I think it's complicated because it's not the MCU versions of the characters so it's not "his" Black Panther. They probably would have announced it if it was the actual Chadwick Boseman Black Panther.

It was probably a smart decision to delay him a bit. It's not smart to risk people taking things the wrong way this close to release.

Interestingly enough though, Kate's inclusion pretty much confirms the datamining for the other incoming characters. There's quite a few listed in the files so it'll be interesting to see just how quickly they'll get released. Perched for Scarlet Witch.

The beta was...fine. It was mildly fun, but I couldn't help feeling I was playing the corporate clone of far better games. The Miss Marvel character is super irritating, both in the way she serves as a Marvel self-aggrandizement project and just her voice, too. I'm not sure it's something I'll buy.

i'm really enjoying it so far, the campaign's short but there's a lot to do afterwards and each character is well realised and fun to play.

My biggest issue with it is that it's incredibly buggy atm, I've had to restart missions several times because I got stuck in a loading screen or that I needed to kill have just disappeared completely. There's also the issue that there's a real lack of enemy and mission variety but so far, I think everything is fixable. There's a lot of potential here and if they take care to fix the bugs and add more variety to the gameplay then I think it could be something special indeed.

I'm not very far into it, I still only have Ms Marvel and Hulk, but I am enjoying it. Playing as Hulk is a lot of fun even if a bit button mashy, I suppose that's the point really :joker:.

It also looks and runs incredibly on PC (getting about 100 - 110 fps) BUT I just found out that only PlayStation is getting Spider-man D:. FFS.

There are pretty major matchmaking problems because you can only have one of each hero and, apparently, everyone wants to be Thor or Cap :joker:
