Prince Harry & MEGHAN come for Twitter/Facebook/Insta - culture of HATE

Prince Harry says social media is stoking a 'crisis of hate' as he reveals he an
d Meghan have been calling business leaders for the last month to ask them to
stop funding the sites in column for US business magazine

  • In an opinion piece for U.S. business magazine Fast Company, Prince Harry said that social media, in its current state, is 'unwell' and in desperate need of fixing
  • The former senior royal said he and his wife, Meghan, have spent the past few weeks working with business leaders to enact positive change
  • The Duke of Sussex called for online communities to be 'defined more by compassion than hate; by truth instead of misinformation'
  • Harry said he and Meghan started their social media reform campaign at the same time as the launch of the Stop Hate for Profit movement in June

The 35-year-old continues that while most people enjoy the likes of
Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, because its presented as a free way to
access entertainment and information, Harry insists, 'it's not actually free; the cost is high'.

In what he called the beginning of a global movement, Harry said that, above all else, he hopes that social media can become a Utopian community built
on 'empathy, tolerance and kindness'.

'The internet has enabled us to be joined together. We are now plugged into
a vast nervous system that, yes, reflects our good, but too often also
magnifies and fuels our bad,' Harry wrote.

'We can—and must—encourage these platforms to redesign themselves in a
more responsible and compassionate way. The world will feel it, and we will
all benefit from it.'

Smithy 07-08-2020 02:55 PM

Social media in general is a cesspit of toxicity

Cherie 07-08-2020 03:19 PM

of course, it was social media that drove them out of Britain, toxic environment at best

Black Dagger 07-08-2020 03:23 PM

Jake. 07-08-2020 03:24 PM

As if business leaders are going to listen to 2 unemployed attention seekers preaching to them...the self - importance is laughable.

Fast Company did this for an uptick in PR and sales. Meanwhile social media platforms will ignore as their aim is to make money and not act as a nanny for individual people or listen to to minor celebs who are desperately trying to find relevance when actually they are middle aged and somewhat past it

They put on a face mask and handed out a couple of meals during lockdown.

I’m all for making the world a better place but it’s easy to point out the obvious when your living in a mansion having the best of everything.

We need to cut down on global warning but us taking this private jet for a spin won’t matter.

Desperados.

Social media is pretty gross, and nothing of value would be lost if it all got deleted.

I have no doubt they did face toxicity on there.

Since they moved themselves out of the spotlight they've taken step after step to keep their names in the media. Bored with an actress and an ex-royal who say they want privacy but court publicity. Maybe they've only just realised how toxic it is, because they've both used social media for years and year.

Marsh. 08-08-2020 04:16 PM

Yes, working with charities and for causes they believe in is exactly the same as the UK media intruding in their personal space.

Great comparison.

Yes, they are like 'you call us out on our many hypocrisies and s***** behaviour, stop it! we only want good things said about us'!!! Boo hooooooo!

Marsh. 08-08-2020 07:11 PM

Meanwhile "Stop living your lives how you want to!!! We want you to stay in the Royal family, spending our taxes and let us abuse you for that! We have no reason to do so otherwise!!"

Honestly, the Royal family should just step aside and let Queen Meg ascend to her rightful throne :clap1: We are not worthy :clap1:
