Chi Chi DeVayne has died
Jaida just posted on IG
:bawling: She was in hospital with pneumonia |
My heart feels so numb right now. A queer icon.
Rest easy queen <3 |
I gasped. Rip legend :(.

Honestly don’t know what to say.

So, so sad. I only got into her seasons this year. What a force.

34 years old too
RIP Queen |
Devastating. An amazing artist, performer and person. RIP Chi Chi.

....awwwww, I’m just watching when she was lip sinc-ing to ...and I’m telling you......such a talented Queen...
|
It's so strange, I was thinking about her at work and how ill she was and I was hoping she'd pull through. She was an excellent queen
|
I... there's no words. I'm just... crying. She was such a kind, talented person

I'd known she was unwell, but I'm still not sure this will sink in for quite some time. Series 8 was the first series that I watched live, and Chi Chi was my first ever Drag Race favourite. It seemed rare then that a queen could have so much natural charm, charisma and talent all in one package, and all these years later I've realised that it's still rare. Truly one of the most loveable queens the show has ever given us the privilege of getting to know, and the drag world has lost one of its biggest hearts. RIP Chi Chi

It's really heartbreaking to hear this. Sahara and Chi Chi both gone too soon (Sahara was 27 when she died, and now Chi Chi at 34).

My season 8 favourite.

This makes me sad

34 years old. Awful tragedy.

A great entertainer and all-round lovely girl. This icon will be so missed.
RIP Chi Chi |
One of my favourites to have ever been on the show. Incredibly talented and so charismatic.
RIP Chi Chi :sad::love: |
So so sad

I couldn't really post much earlier because I read this on my phone and just...sort of crumpled and sobbed for a bit. But this is particularly hurtful because of how congenial and benevolent she was with everyone... and also because of Kennedy's reaction to the news.
Bad enough that she couldn't attend Sahara's funeral, she now couldn't be with Chi Chi (presumably for COVID-related reasons)... my heart honestly aches for her and the other Davenports because they're so, so talented and yet get hit with the most tragic stuff. There'll be a lot of tributes paid to Chi Chi and rightly so but of the many I've already seen this reminder of her talents was perhaps the most poignant and fitting: It wasn't her last dance and as long as there are fans of the art of drag and performance, there'll thankfully never be a last Chi Chi dance  |

...’the symbol of kindness that she exemplified for so many‘...that kind of beautiful energy will never have a last dance as you say, Shaun...
