DONALD TRUMP may get NOBEL PEACE PRIZE

Nomination was submitted by Christian Tybring-Gjedde, a member of the
Norwegian Parliament

A respected Norwegian politician has put Mr Trump's name forward for the 2021
prize, citing the president's role in the recent peace deal between Israel and the
United Arab Emirates.

Christian Tybring-Gjedde told Fox News on Wednesday: "For his merit, I think
he has done more trying to create peace between nations than most other
peace prize nominees."

Tybring-Gjedde, further, praised Trump for withdrawing a large number of
troops from the Middle East. “Indeed, Trump has broken a 39-year-old streak
of American Presidents either starting a war or bringing the United States
into an international armed conflict. The last president to avoid doing so was
Peace Prize laureate Jimmy Carter,” he wrote.

This is not Trump’s first such nomination, as Tybring-Gjedde submitted one
along with another Norwegian official in 2018 following the U.S. president’s
Singapore summit with Kim Jong Un. Japan’s prime minister reportedly did
the same.

he is not a respected norwegian politician though is he, he is a member of a far right organisation

He is most widely known for his opposition to immigration, especially Muslim immigration,[1] He believes immigration policy to be the single most important political issue facing Norwegian society.[2] In 2014 he released his book about immigration politics titled Mens orkesteret fortsetter å spille (While the orchestra continues to play).[3][4] In foreign policy he has supported Vladimir Putin and criticized the sanctions against Russia that the conservatives pushed for; he has also said the west should recognise the Russian occupation and annexation of Crimea.[5][6][7][8][9] He has been sharply critical of United States foreign policy prior to the election of Donald Trump.[10] In 2018 and 2020 he put forward Trump's name as a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize; any member of parliament may propose candidates.

What? This is crazy.

Obama deserved to have his taken away after his continuation and escalation of US foreign policy on drones etc, but suggesting trump deserves it more after his policies of banning muslims, caging kids, knowing the severity of covid, but doing nothing, his support for violence and white supremacy etc, is a bit of a stretch.

Unless you were being tongue-in-cheek, in which case ignore what I've just written.

Obama did nothing to deserve it so the bar is pretty low. The peace prize is awarded to those who work at building peace between nations so domestic affairs are not very relevant. Brokering the first Israeli-Arab peace deal in decades is however, as is arranging the first ever meeting between the leaders of the US and North Korea

The Japanese PM has also nominated Trump for the prize in the past

the winners of any nobel prize have been highly questionable

I agree he didn't really do anything to deserve it, but you there is an argument to be had that if nothing else the symbolism of a black man becoming president in the country known for it's (relatively) modern slave trade, is deserving of the historic recognition.

There's a reason that US presidents haven't met with the leader of North Korea, and we saw it play out. The DPRK used it for propaganda purposes, made promises it had no intention of keeping then basically made trump look a fool whilst carrying on with it's nuclear program.

Supporting Israeli apartheid and even moving the US Embassy to further antagonise the region, and supporting illegal Israeli annexations is not conducive to a peaceful region, and neither is removing the US from an actual successful agreement with Iran, because Obama did it, is childish.

The nobel committee members are a bunch of progressive hacks that would never honor Trump for any reason.

Quite a bizarre statement tbh. Obama didn't deserve it either but it was only the start of the year that Trump was basically angling for war with Iran, never mind the human rights abuses at the border and his calls for violence against protesters.

Biggest joke going.

Hitler was also nominated

Don’t think we should take nominations very seriously.

Don't forget Stalin and Mussolini.

Shaun 10-09-2020 03:22 PM

seems to just be a generally self-congratulatory pat on the back service for people with more power than morals, it's nowhere near as important as the other Nobel prizes

Ammi 10-09-2020 03:27 PM

...well, being nominated for a prize but being a fairly awful human being is not much of a prize, I feel...

LeatherTrumpet 10-09-2020 03:32 PM

imagine he wins and wins the election

his mother would be so proud
