Ted Lasso

It's on Apple TV and its really funny

James 12-09-2020 01:32 PM

I was going to get a free trial to watch this, and something else, once the whole series is out.

James 25-10-2021 08:28 AM

I've finished watching the first series, and I really liked it.

At the beginning I thought it was just alright because I found the main character quite cartoonish, and couldn't understand why he took the job, but as it went on I found it got better and better.

I heard a review which said the second series was more hit-and-miss but I'll see.

bots 25-10-2021 08:58 AM

Some of it is very funny, other bits not so much. I am going to binge watch the 2nd series when its all available. I'm not a fan of the way apple drip feed episodes of nearly all their series, by the time its all available to watch, i've usually forgotten all about it

James 25-10-2021 09:05 AM

I think it is all out now. I was planning to watch it all in the week's trial, but I didn't manage that - I prefer to leave some time in between episodes.

It's funny and it is quite emotional too. It gets quite a lot right about football I thought, with some inaccuracies.

James 09-11-2021 10:54 PM

I've watched the first five episodes of the second series and episode 5 was my favourite of these so far. I actually got quite emotional when

Spoiler:

Roy returned to Richmond to coach.

I also liked the Christmas episode previously. I thought the first episode of S2 was based on something that was a little far-fetched (with Earl the dog) so I liked that one less.

James 14-11-2021 12:57 AM

I really enjoyed the second series.

I heard a review which said it was hit-and-miss but I've got no complaints.

DrunkerThanMoses 14-11-2021 06:24 AM

Yeah I recently binged watch both seasons its a very good show. I heard season 3 might be its last one which I think is a good idea. It's a good show but it's the type of show that can get repeative so best to finish when it's good

James 24-12-2022 07:41 PM

I got an e-mail saying you can now watch the first season of Ted Lasso, and some other shows, for free, until 3rd January.

Richmond Till We Die. Ted Lasso Season 3 premieres March 15 on Apple TV+ https://apple.co/TedLasso
S3 description - contains spoilers for what's already been shown.

Spoiler:

In this third season of Ted Lasso, the newly-promoted AFC Richmond faces ridicule as media predictions widely peg them as last in the Premier League and Nate (Nick Mohammed), now hailed as the “wonder kid,” has gone to work for Rupert (Anthony Head) at West Ham United. In the wake of Nate’s contentious departure from Richmond, Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) steps up as assistant coach, alongside Beard (Brendan Hunt).

Meanwhile, while Ted (Jason Sudeikis) deals with pressures at work, he continues to wrestle with his own personal issues back home, Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) is focused on defeating Rupert and Keeley (Juno Temple) navigates being the boss of her own PR agency. Things seem to be falling apart both on and off the pitch, but Team Lasso is set to give it their best shot anyway.

I am looking forward to this.

James 02-06-2023 04:41 PM

I've just started watching S3, although the finale was the other day.

James 12-06-2023 10:21 PM

I liked S3 but not as much as the previous two. Some episodes I really liked.

I noticed the episodes were a lot longer than before.

James 12-06-2023 10:58 PM

The Roy Kent and Jamie Tartt actors have very different voices to the characters on the show. I was convinced the Jamie actor was a real Mancunian.

bots 13-06-2023 03:49 AM

i just finished series 3. What i noticed is that the characters really evolved over the course of the three seasons, so it really felt like you were on a journey

James 26-08-2024 07:16 AM

I thought they wrapped up the story but it looks like they are making more.

Quote:

EXCLUSIVE: Ted Lasso fans, this is not a drill. In a major step toward the long-awaited fourth season of Apple TV+’s hugely popular soccer comedy, the series’ studio Warner Bros. Television has picked up the options on the three original cast members who had been contracted under the aegis of the UK acting union Equity, sources tell Deadline. They are Hannah Waddingham, who plays AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Walton, Brett Goldstein, who plays hardman Roy Kent and Jeremy Swift, who plays Director of Football Operations Leslie Higgins.

After securing the trio, the studio is expected to start reaching out to Ted Lasso cast members with SAG-AFTRA contracts whose options had expired, so they will need to make new deals, we hear. In addition to co-creators/executive producers Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso) and Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard), that is believed to include Juno Temple (Keeley Jones). We hear one of the Ted Lasso OGs, Phil Dunster (Jamie Tart), has not been picked up, presumably due to a conflict with another series; he is on both Prime Video’s The Devil’s Hour and Apple’s Surface.

bots 26-08-2024 04:38 PM

yeah, i don't really understand it, it had a very natural end

James 27-08-2024 09:05 AM

Hardly anyone is watching Apple TV+, so I guess that is why they have to continue their most well-known show.

It feels like Toy Story 4 though, where that was kind of an unnecessary sequel.

Maybe they will go with the

women's team
storyline that was mentioned at the end of the last series.

bots 27-08-2024 09:48 AM

yeah that's a possibility.

I haven't been keeping up with Apples viewing figures, but I do like quite a few of their shows

Crimson Dynamo 27-08-2024 11:39 AM

Its not that funny tbh

bots 27-08-2024 04:05 PM

it was never an out and out comedy
