I've had an Annus Horriblus as the Queen once said.

I have had a terrible year. I know I'm not the only one.

2020 has not exactly been all I hoped and dreamed of.

Covid has been a nightmare plus I had a personal crisis which certain forum members know about. I'll leave that there.

Now I've also had a bust up with my best mate and it looks like its gonna be permanent unfortunately. Some things you just can't forgive. Plus I suspect she's developed bi polar and when I tried to talk to her about it she went ballistic. So I'm far from flava of the month. And she's having an affair with a married man. We are both friends with his wife and its a very tricky situation. Not at all comfortable with it. So that's that I guess. Its over.

I'm up at this unholy hour cos I can't sleep. Not unusual for me.

I can't wait for this year to bow out.

Let's hope 2021 is a blast. Xx

...Kate.....2020 has been such a tough year because that balance of social contact and gatherings and activities etc just haven’t been there...and all of our lives need those balances so much and balance in general to hold us steady...I haven’t slept either btw, so we’re insomnia sisters for one night only...

...I don’t know because there are different aspects to this with your friend having a romantic attachment to someone who is married...thats something that only you can decide, Kate...the boundaries of your friendship.....?...how far those boundaries can be pushed etc...with the bipolar or mental health issues that you feel she has...(...which if she does have, may or may not be connected to her pursuing or being active in this affair...)....I hope that if she does need help, that she seeks it...the only thing that I would say..?...is that as you do know this guy’s wife very well also...that maybe take an opportunity to speak to him and let him know that you know and that it’s something that you’re struggling with because of your friendship with her...I’m sure that his wife is deserving of honesty from him...because that’s the worst betrayal../...the lies etc...

..try to sleep today if you can and catch up a little.....

Yeah its been a **** year Kate, I think we all sgare your pain there. To make matters worse, I've just gone to make a brew and my kettle blew up (literally). 2020 can do one now.

Not as scary as not having a brew  I had to revert to a pan on the cooker lol.

I don’t think anyone will look back in 2020 with any fondness, I feel particularly sorry for people like my Aunt who is in her 80s and just unable to do anything at all, with no end in sight as to when she might start living again, she says it’s like being dead

Kizzy 27-09-2020 09:48 AM

Aw no Kate, usually I'm knocking about at silly o clock too! So sorry on top of the stress of covid there's a breakdown in a friendship to process. Are you sure she's not being taken advantage of because she's vulnerable?
Donkeys years ago my sister was in a similar situation when she had a breakdown?

If she does need some help and support with her mental health, then she will kick back against it initially, if she's a good friend id step away but say you'll be there if she needs you.

I'd be tempted to tell the guy to back off too or risk his wife finding out...but that's just me ;)

it's been a grim year for all of us, the worst in my life time, and that's saying a lot

People who are normally very steady and easy going are struggling, so when that foundation goes, it becomes very difficult for everyone.

My biggest issue now is with other remote family members. Some are happy to break the restrictions saying they are careful ... others not, and it's leading to arguments that would never have occurred under any other circumstances. It's a really crap year

Does your girlfriend shag anything that breathes?

Asking for a friend.

Ive had the best year, just come back from another holiday today.

smudgie 27-09-2020 04:44 PM

Awwww Kate, sounds like a mare of a year for you.
I really do feel for so many people, I can only imagine the worry of having to socialise when you really don’t feel safe etc.
It is hard not to be able to see family and friends, not everybody is lucky enough to have zoom/Facebook etc.
On a personal level hubby and I are fine, makes very little difference to us other than restricted visits.

Aww Kate. That sucks what’s going on atm in your personal life and I agree with you that this has been a terrible year. I hope things begin to look a bit positive for you at some point.

Yeah, I agree.
This year has been terrible.
It started out amazing.
My highlight was finally seeing Bon Jovi play live.
But it was downhill from there.
All we can do is stay strong, better times will come

That sucks Kate. Losing a friend due to something bad is not good
