When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up...

...we’ve had it before, I know...but well, we could do it again if you want to...as a child, what was your dream of being in terms of a job/profession ...and maybe you achieved it/changed path/are still on path or whatever...?...

Originally it was an archaeologist from when I was 6/7 ish - I loved history in primary school and thought that excavations and finding bones and artefacts was just amazing. Then my high school history teacher was just vile and it put me off the subject all in all.

Have always been arty though and always excelled at art/drawing at school and at home so that was the natural path for me. I think I’m School the automatic response was “animator” when asked what I wanted to do because I thought you only made good money if you made cartoons/worked for Disney etc.

Thankfully I do portraiture now as a “job” if you can call it that and what’s great is I’m still learning all the time. Like this past year beginning oil painting/proper painting of any kind really, something I’d never done (never at home, school, college or uni) and realising I might have found my “true calling” within the general field of “ART” in painting. Crazy.

EDIT: just remembered I genuinely wanted to be a WWE wrestler for a time too, around 10/11 years old! :joker:

...thing is that anything and everything that you may have ever wanted to be and thought was pretty cool, etc, LaLa..?..you can create with your art so in a way ‘you can become and live out’ while you’re actually creating each piece of art...so that’s pretty spectacular, eh... every piece of art, you’re living another dream.....

From talking politics as a child with my Father.
An MP was my thought.

It still is and one never knows.

When I was about 6/7 I received a nurse set for my birthday, wanted to be a nurse.
I saw The Singing Nun at the cinema a few years later and wanted to be a nun.
Other than that never really had any ambition for what I wanted to do with my life.
Just live it to the full and go with the flow.

no but ( i may have told this before) i used to have a tenant who never paid rent for like 6 weeks and then he would pay all his debt in one and every week I would send him letters until i worked out the pattern but i always had to justify him to my boss after 4 weeks until he paid. Used to go round his house and bang on door or post letters

anyroad fast forward 4 years and i met ex Mrs LT in LOndon where i now worked and we started going out and her best pal becky suggested we meet up with her new husband andy. SO we go out for drinks and im getting on well with him and we talk about where i was before this company

anyway it turns out he was my tenant at 30 Polsteads, Vange, Basildon!

30 years later he is now my pal andy who i go to golf with every year

you could not make it up
