Melania Trump has been heard on tape talking about criticism she faced over children separated from their parents at the border in a recording played by CNN’s Anderson Cooper.

The First Lady can be heard saying: “Give me a *******ing break.”

The tapes were apparently recorded by Ms Trump’s former friend and aide, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, who has published a book about their time together, Melania and Me: The Rise and Fall of My Friendship with the First Lady.

In the recordings, apparently made without her knowledge, Ms Trump can be heard saying: "I’m working like a – my ass off at Christmas stuff that you know, who gives a ******* about Christmas stuff and decoration?

"But I need to do it, right? Correct?

"OK, and then I do it. And I say that I’m working on Christmas planning for the Christmas. And they said, ‘Ooh what about the children, that they were separated? ’ Give me a *******ing break.

“Where they were saying anything when Obama did that?”

tbf (can't believe I'm defending her here) but she's just saying that she's annoyed that she's getting asked questions like that all the time and the Obama's were never hassled as much, it doesn't seem like she's saying anything bad about the children as such

The problem with that is, Obama didn’t take kids away from their parents and also, she’s the First Lady, she should expect to be asked those questions at all times, the world and her husbands policies don’t stop just because it’s Christmas

Oh I know that but who hasn't said something in private to someone who you thought was a friend when venting and frustrated? She's clearly not that kind of person cut out for the job though either

Not sure this book will be a big success if this is the biggest bombshell from it/worst thing that can be held against Melania

i just don't think anyone other than the Daily Express cares what Melania thinks or does

Well, tbf, when Obama created the law to seperate children from their guardians, it was only to be used in cases where abuse or trafficking were believed to be happening and only a handful of children during Obama's reign were ever taken away from their parents and they were all treated well, it seems.

Trump's administration has used that law to justify children being taken away from their parents permanently en masse, and there's been a worrying number of children that have died under border control's watch when there's been no such deaths of children in decades before Trump took the office. Obama's law was meant to be a way to intervene in cases of abuse, Trump has used it to commit wanton abuse against children and their families.

There was a video of one child, a teenager who literally died of the flu, I believe, on the floor of his cell and it honestly haunts me. I think about it often, how, if anyone had checked on him, he could have lived. How if he wasn't separated from his family, he would still be alive.

Blaming Obama and making out that things were the same under his administration is just pure bull****.

While we stan how much she hates Trump, I have to admit that she's an utterly unsympathetic twat that has shown before that she does not actually care about the situation at the border (remember that infamous coat?)
