EastEnders: was Archie always intended to be a rapist?
Watching these 2008 episodes might’ve shed a new light on Archie and Ronnie’s relationship for many so I thought I’d spin it out here. There’s no denying there was always a certain sinister tone to their father/daughter relationship but watching the first episodes between the two do you think the rape was always written in or was it tagged on at the last minute to further justify Stacey killing him?

I've been thinking the same, whilst their relationship was obviously toxic, I just can't imagine Ronnie not saying anything then and there (and especially to Peggy) if it was storylined.
|
I honestly think he was meant to be around for the long term but I'm sure he decided to quit? Which led them to write away for him to be killed off

They ruined Ronnie by heaping on tragedy after tragedy after tragedy on to her and no i doubt that was his original plan

I think Santer planned for him to be but Larry Lamb wasn’t happy with it so they had to tell the story in a way which didn’t involve him, ie. Stacey and Ronnie revealing it after he died.

I’m currently watching EastEnders 2008 that they’re showing on BBC Four weekly and Ronnie is absolutely amazing. Definitely one of the show’s greatest ever characters.
