Tips on flying the nest...

I am moving out of the family home this Thursday and moving into a flat in Kirkcaldy (Fife) with my friend & older brother :cheer:

I don't find it daunting at all due to moving in with two other people and having travelled by myself/worked in the states, etc etc

But just so I am extra prepared, does anyone have any wee tips to make life easier for when I begin to get settled? Anything I may not think about, and so on... :)

Have plenty of milk tea and coffee in stock for visitors. Covid permitting of course. Sigh.

Good luck Marc. Wishing you all the best. X

You don’t need to, well I don’t

I offer alcoholic beverages instead

Once you finished unpacking I’d say go out and explore the new area you’ve moved to. Try and find the best route and maybe little shortcuts to your new place. I’d also look at public transport. Where’s the nearest train station? Bus stops? What times do the buses normally run? Which route goes where? Etc. Things like this will be useful at some point especially if you don’t drive so it would be best to have that all figured out as early as possible.

Good luck with the move tho Babayaro. Wish you all the best

Thank you for the advice, I really appreciate it! But the town I am moving to is pretty much my second home and I know it very well hahaha!

The bus station is a 2 minute walk and the train is like 10

Oh right, I didn’t realise you was already familiar with the area you’re moving too .

aw two of you flying the nest at the same time!

Are you moving much stuff? if you are boxing up anything write a brief note on the outside to remind you what is in there, saves time going through every box and finding it in the last one

Make sure you have a nice warm duvet and bed throw - and a spare duvet cover/sheets :oh: be clean..

when you get there have a kitty for essentials like TR/washing up liquid/bin bags, cleaning stuff, saves on arguments as to who bought what last :D:

Finally have the best time

Don't get lazy with cleaning.

Cook decent meals (or learn to cook if you can't) and don't be tempted to constantly get take-away.

I tend to have my bills out on one pay day and the 2nd pay day of the month is mine so I for 2 weeks I hardly have much money

If your name is on nothing then you have no grounds to stand if it goes sour
