Do psychic abilities exist?
 

I'm sure this sort of thread's been done to death on here but they've never ended well for obvious reasons. I thought I'd try it again but this time with a bit more respectfulness from either side (which isn't too much to ask), bearing in mind people from different religious and cultural backgrounds think different things about this thing.

Like I said people from different cultural backgrounds will have different things to say for this so there's no need to dismiss people who do believe in them (and vice versa). Respectfulness isn't a great deal to ask for so this thread shouldn't end up closed (touch wood).

Covid killed them...nobody can predict that seemingly.

People from certain cultures have seen more unusual things than you have. Not everyone looks at these things from a modern Western perspective.

We can all see things whilst out our tits on plant juices.

I don't know is my answer at this time.
However I wouldn't dismiss the possibility or probability that some individuals may have.

I'd say no more likely to clairvoyants.
I can't say yes to all, nor say no either.

Good question from you however and I will read the contributions mostly with interest.

And I’m going to say yes, they have. I say that as someone who’s a lot more exposed to non-Western cultures than you have. Trust me.

Maybe you'd like to expand? I'm a believer myself but wouldon't be interested to hear why you feel it's a cultural issue.

In non-Western cultures deeply rooted in spirituality and mythology stranger things exist than future-telling (no matter what LT says). That much is for sure.

I don't know if they do, but I'd like to think they do. :p

Since the question is do psychic abilities exist.

I've decided to vote yes as I do believe they can.
Although most recognised clairvoyants I don't think have it.

As is ours for me, mythology has little to do with psychic ability though. LT isn't a believer and that's his prerogative, you can't dictate only one viewpoint participates in a debate.
You asked a question, if you don't want differing responses maybe you shouldn't have asked.

If psychic abilities existed they would be provable (and not just in a vague "my aunt's friend says..." way, in an actual in-depth study) as there would be a MASSIVE incentive to prove and market these abilities.

As they have never been proven and have actually been effectively dis-proven (the Nazis, followed by other governments, tried really hard to uncover psychic abilities all throughout the 20th century with no success) so I'm quite confident in saying that no, they don't exist.

I don’t think that’s what I said and you know it. I said non-believers should show as much respect to the other side as they would. Read my OP again if you think I’m only after one particular kind of response.

Evidence that their ideas hold basis in fact/are demonstrable and not based in superstition.

No need for avoidance tactics.. you said YES to the initial question..
