David Fincher's "Mank" - Out December

From the creator of movie "Gone Girl" and series "Mindhunter" comes a 1930's Hollywood biopic (in the style of the very same era) starring Gary Oldman, Amanda Seyfried and more. Out in December on Netflix.

Quote:

The full trailer for David Fincher’s new Netflix film Mank has just been released.

The film, due for release at the end of the year, will retell the story of Citizen Kane writer Herman J. Mankiewicz as he struggles to finish the screenplay of Orson Welles’ iconic film.

Mankiewicz will be played by Gary Oldman, who most recently won an Oscar for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in Joe Wright’s Darkest Hour. Mank will also star Amanda Seyfried, Lily Collins, Ferdinand Kingsley, Tom Pelphrey and Arliss Howard, with Tom Burke as Orson Welles.

The official synopsis for the film reads: “1930s Hollywood is re-evaluated through the eyes of scathing social critic and alcoholic screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz as he races to finish the screenplay of Citizen Kane for Orson Welles.”

Anyone watched this yet? It’s on my list but can’t find the time to watch movies lately!

"From the creator of movie Gone Girl?"

That's no way to sell a Fincher movie to people.

How it should be done

From the creator of "Se7en" and "Fight Club"

Gone Girl is/was an excellent movie so. I ain't crazy about Fight Club, I think it's severely overrated.

Have you seen the new Christopher Nolan film yet, Lala? If so, is it any good? How does it rank against his others?

The quality of the three films aside, Gone Girl isn't exactly representative of a "David Fincher Film"(tm). I'd forgotten that GG was even made by him!

So I gave it a go - and gave up.

I just don't think I care enough about the outcome, got about an hour ish in and turned off.

It's good but it's very niche. Beautifully shot too, it really feels like it's a movie from the 30's. But yeah - couldn't hold my attention.
