knew he was Gay

Can't help feeling that thread title is somewhat at odds with that paragraph about his wife's suicide.

[He saw Moira frequently, but the fractured marriage was always difficult.
In 1997, he decided to spend a month
at the villa they owned in Cyprus.
She wanted to come, too.
Feeling she was too ill to travel, Baxter told her she
must stay in London.
He took her passport, to prevent her from trying to follow him.
'It was then she physically attacked me. She punched me
and my glasses flew off. It was the one and only time she had
ever reacted in this way. But immediately afterwards she was so sorry.']

Sure Tragic.

[Moira accepted that he was gay, allowed him to bring men home for sex,
despite homosexuality being illegal in England and Wales]

[Baxter had been arrested for cottaging and contemplated suicide
for fear of scandal causing an end to his career,
however the soliciting charges were subsequently dropped]

she let him bring lovers to the house in Hampstead so why couldn't she go to Cyprus, withholding her passport was abusive in the extreme

So many entertainers have been found to be thoroughly unpleasant people out of the limelight
