ASSUMING Biden now wins, wot Trump do?

If Biden wins, Trump still has 2+ months in office. How will he use 'em?

Poll coming

Niamh. 06-11-2020 09:42 AM

Oh god, I dread to think :skull: It's going to be so ****ing messy

Jessica. 06-11-2020 09:45 AM

I think he'll refuse to leave

Toy Soldier 06-11-2020 09:45 AM

I should add that when I say "without incident" - I mean in terms of Trump's own actions. In terms of how his supporters will react, I think at least "some incident" is inevitable.

The issue with that one is that at 12.01pm on the 20th of January, if he's still in the White House, the Secret Service can turn round and shoot him as a trespasser :umm2:.

Niamh. 06-11-2020 09:47 AM

I don't think he will refuse to leave but I do think he will use the time to rile up his supporters and cause as much damage and division to the country as possible

The Slim Reaper 06-11-2020 09:48 AM

He's going to nuke Pennsylvania.

The Slim Reaper 06-11-2020 09:49 AM

And there will definitely be a Trump running in 2024.

nah, we can just ask him we want to see his taxes, and he'll be gone in no time from the white house

Toy Soldier 06-11-2020 09:49 AM

For my part - I think he will try to challenge it in the courts and when that fails he will seemingly leave without incident, however I think that'll be because there will be under-the-table deals where he negotiates legal protections after he leaves, in exchange for not sabotaging anything on the way out. That would be his smart move. We'll see if he really is a clever businessman in disguise, or a narcissistic troll to the end.

During a pandemic?

Niamh. 06-11-2020 09:50 AM

On a morbid curiosity level though I would love if he did refuse to leave :hehe:

He can run again in 2024 because the rule is only a 2 term max, they don't have to be consecutive. I personally don't think he'll be in good enough health by then, though. I also don't know if any of the actual Trumps have the same "cult of personality" as Donnie to get the whole squad behind them, though I do think a "Trump-esque protege" is a possibility. It depends though. I think Republican's best chance would actually be running a closer-to-sensible-centre campaign with a heavy focus on rock bottom tax.

I said to my wife earlier that he'll get a 2-bed bungalow in an Aberdeenshire suburb and spend the rest of his days pottering around his golf course :joker:

i've been thinking about it and I think the time will just run out until January and Biden will take over with no transition.

Elections can't be challenged or even recounted until the vote has been certified which will be in 2 or 3 weeks time. By then, many of his supporters will have acclimatized to the situation and the little momentum he has will be gone (but he doesnt actually have any momentum now) It's difficult to fire up people when they are heading into the holiday season. I think he will end up being banned by social media in the very near future and his opportunity to do any further TV press broadcasts will all but disappear, so he will eventually fizzle out

I know. I sort of agree about his health which is why I said a trump. How many big mac and cokes can one man take. Don Jr definitely fancies his chances.

I'm pretty sure that he will play the victim throughout the whole thing. He's skint and he'll need money when he leaves office, and the best way to do it is by keeping his base riled up. The thing I think could be the funniest, is when the old president hosts the new one at the white house on inauguration day. I think he could be sitting next to biden talking about fake votes and ballots appearing.

He has a golf course if Ireland too......please let him pick yours :fc:

LeatherTrumpet 06-11-2020 10:04 AM

He will be back for 2024

Oliver_W 06-11-2020 10:05 AM

I think he'll contest the states with <1% difference and/or any states where there's any actual indication of cheating, if any, and fair enough on both counts. If there's no realistic possibility of getting a re-election through the courts I think he'll try to get some spiteful laws or bills passed to piss off the people who (in his eyes) didn't realise how wonderful he is, aka those he failed to win over.

LeatherTrumpet 06-11-2020 10:09 AM

I think all the fraud and contesting stuff will give him enough time to (in his eyes) save face and he can lick his wounds and reflect before going again in 2024

I don't know... I think he might think that at first but at 78, after 3 years of stress-free trolling? I don't see him willingly coming out of retirement. I think the only reason he's terrified of leaving is that he thinks he's going to have to "face the music" on various issues (debts, legal issues) when he leaves BUT I don't think he actually will face any of that in any meaningful way... and once he's content that he's not going to jail or going bust, he'll be happy enough to literally retire to the golf course.

He's already an unindicted co-conspirator on a charge that sent Michael Cohen to prison. If he didn't have so much pride and bluster, he'd resign and put Pence in charge to given him a full pardon for past crimes.
