these are more like sous chefs, or head chefs of smaller lesser known restaurants

so basically at first episodes the contestants already know some skills, so this is about who can become even better, to maybe even michelin star worthy material

Nicky91 11-11-2020 07:04 AM

overall first episode, very enjoyable to watch

also the new bits, where either Marcus/Monica go backstage and get a more close look at contestants in first challenge is kinda fun as well

also the 2 metre distancing of course, and each judge tasting separately and on their own plate

UserSince2005 11-11-2020 07:13 AM

I thought Sammy had the best dish.
The girls dish was unique and interesting but it was like a tasting menu rather than a meal.

Vanessa 11-11-2020 07:18 AM

Great first episode, I really enjoyed it.

Kuljit kinda a flop :fan: being a head chef at a 4 star hotel

tonight's heat info

Quote:

In tonight’s second heat, four more professional chefs arrive from across the nation to compete in the renowned MasterChef kitchen. Two chefs are challenged by Marcus Wareing to prepare sweetbreads with a rustic red wine sauce in just 20 minutes, while Monica Galetti asks the other two to create a glazed sabayon fruit dessert.

Then the four chefs get the chance to impress the judges with two stand-out signature dishes. Once their time is up, the judges will decide which two are to be sent home and which two make it through to this week’s quarter-final.

His food was definitely the worst out of the first two episodes.

I am surprised though that Victor went through the last episode when he had so many components missing from his Dessert.

Nicky91 18-11-2020 06:29 AM

Alex, Jono went through last nights episode of the first 4 of second batch of hopefuls

Jono's dessert gave me IAC vibes, hay custard and ants

Nicky91 19-11-2020 01:30 PM

am enjoying this too a lot this year

last night Ross, Santosh advanced

tonight's quarter finals is Alex, Jono, Ross, Santosh

Santosh's nepalese dishes, fab he is sharing that bit of culture with us

for tonights ep

In this week's first heat, two chefs face a skills test set by judge Monica Galetti. They must fillet a trout, smoke it and serve it with a celeriac remoulade. Will they get the balance of flavour and smoke just right or will it be a burn out? Meanwhile, Marcus Wareing challenges the other two chefs to prepare a classic crepe suzette. Precision is crucial to achieve a good texture in the crepe and deliver a punch of flavour in the accompanying orange sauce. Will the chefs hit the mark or flounder at the first hurdle?

Then the chefs prepare their two-course signature dishes. They have one hour and 25 minutes to cook up a main and a dessert that highlight their creativity and flair and give Monica, Marcus and Gregg a taste for their personal style. This is their chance to really cement their place in the competition and make it through to this week's quarter-final.

I wonder why we didn't get to see the fourth contestant last night?

I hope that nothing serious has happened.

idk, and maybe also said nothing for privacy reasons

find this weeks round also lesser contestants, than weeks before so whoever goes through here in tonight's quarter final, their competition truly begins against some fierce opponents

not bad dishes of last night though, lots of ambition (maybe too ambitious for some)

Nicky91 27-11-2020 09:33 AM

Aaron's 2 dishes :worship:

Monica: best i have ever tasted at critics round for a very long time

i am also happy Luke made it through

Mystic Mock 27-11-2020 01:38 PM

Aaron's definitely talented.

And Luke is incredibly consistent so far so well done to them both.

Nicky91 01-12-2020 04:54 PM

tonight another round of new hopefuls

Vanessa 01-12-2020 05:31 PM

I'm behind with this. I need to catch up.

Nicky91 02-12-2020 07:57 AM

woo hoo, a dutchman on this :clap1: :clap1: i can hear it on his voice, Bart  he also got quite some potential

Carla is nice either

Nicky91 03-12-2020 09:27 AM

last nights was interesting, i was happy Paul got through, also kinda like what sort of chef he is, also fun he did arrange foods for garden party's for royal family

Jamaar got some potential

but tonights last quarter final, Bart/Carla are on paper the frontrunners, the better of the signature dishes comparing to Jamaar, Paul, but who knows maybe we'll get a surprise tonight

Nicky91 09-12-2020 01:09 PM

lovely round last night with memories dishes

and a lovely elimination challenge either, with the takeaways, i agreed with Gregg very fitting these times when we rely more than ever on takeaways since restaurants are closed

my personal fave chefs are Bart, Santosh, Jono

Nicky91 11-12-2020 08:08 AM

my 3 faves all in top 6 finals week woo hoo :cheer2:

Mystic Mock 12-12-2020 08:55 AM

My favorites are Bart, Jono, and Philli.

But I like them all so good luck to them.
