Visiting a Cold Country, do you fancy that?
We all think about how lovely it is to go on holiday to a lovely warm country and sunbathe by the pool or on the lovely sandy beaches, oh it's a lovely thought, isn't it:flower:
But wait a moment....... What about a lovely trip to Iceland or Greenland or somewhere similar, where the weather is freezing cold? How does that compare?? It's the last thing I want, as I hate the freezing cold and love the warmer climate, but for a few, the lovely Cold is everything. nodisharmony  |
Depends what there is to do there.I'd pick a cold but interesting place over just lounging on a hot beach for a week.

I love sun, beach and hot temperatures because I live with that at all the time (except the 7 days of rain per year). The summer I can enjoy it more with my friends, sleeping outside (even if it's forbidden) and make a party on the beach, I love it.
But I love cold countries too, even the summer, last summer I went in Russia (because my father is) and it was quite cold, that was really amazing and completely different. I always went for Christmas but the summer, it could be better. And I hope that in August, when I will go in Ireland and in England, visiting my exchange, it won't be cold and raining at all the time ! |
This sums me up perfectly!
I'm in Australia and it's great but the weather is chilly. |
I have been to lapland to see santa and the bogies freeze before they even come out of your nose, I liked the magic of the place, I liked the ice bar etc.. but I hated the cold and was glad I was only there for 2 days!

Spent 2 weeks in sub zero Banff, Canada. Average daytime temperature minus 22 centigrade. Average night time temp, minus 45c. One day with wind chill, minus 62c. Went prepared with the proper kit. It was an exceptional winter. Even some of the locals were getting caught out and had the tell tale black skin of frost bite on their noses and ears. When you breathed your breath crystallized in font of you. Your eye lashes would stick together and ice would form on them. it was an experience, but much more fun that a hot holiday. for me anyway.

Isn't the weather in the UK cold enough?

I wanna go on a skiing holiday.

"Isn't the weather in the UK cold enough?"
Totally different type of cold. It's a dry cold unlike here. You can be sat up a mountain at -22c in a t-shirt as long as the sun is out and there is no wind what so ever. Any cloud cover or wind and you cover up instantly. Quite strange. With regards to a skiing holiday, do it as soon as you can. But have some lessons before you go. They are worth the money given how much more you will get out of the holiday. I ditched skiing about 12 years ago in favour of boarding. Much more fun in my opinion and it is one of the few things i will hold my hand up to and say i am bloody good at that. |
im going to Australia for august
so it will be winter over there but i dont think its going to be cold hopefully! :hello: |
