They won't announce the placements (and they aren't terribly important anyway) until the first week or two of January, but these are the ten artists who've made the cut... previous winners of the title include Adele, Ellie Goulding, HAIM, Sam Smith, Years & Years and Keane.

I'd heard of Alfie, Dutchavelli and Bree before. Bree Runway will hopefully snatch the title; she's excellent. And I was incredibly mortified to discover Alfie Templeman is only 17 because... reasons...

Griff is currently doing the rounds in Disney's christmas advert, so there's some familiarity; whilst Dutchavelli and Girl in Red have already amassed views in the multi-millions.

Apparently Alfie is on top of the pops, which might go in his favour?

Girl in Red has done the rounds on twitter and tiktok so she’s the only one I’ve heard of.

I can see him being in the top five but think the title is going to go one of Bree, Dutchavelli and GIR.

Listening to a lot of Alfie Templeman this morning, he’s pretty good
