SNP Nicola Sturgeon broke Covid rules at funeral

[Scotland's first minister has apologised
for breaching Covid rules by taking
her face mask off at a wake.

The Scottish Sun has published a photograph
of Nicola Sturgeon standing talking to
three people at a social distance,
but with her face uncovered.
She was attending a wake after the funeral
of a Scottish government
civil servant who died with Covid.
Ms Sturgeon had been wearing a tartan mask
and is said to have taken it off briefly
as she was leaving the venue.
The Scottish government's Covid regulations say
that customers in hospitality venues must
wear a face covering except
when seated - including when they are entering,
exiting and moving around.]

Sack Her

Kate! 23-12-2020 02:22 AM

No don't sack her. Dom Cummings did far worse and kept his job. Leave her be. She's apologised and I'm sure feels terrible and won't do it again.

Wrong
he was in a car
Not in Public like this SNP Leader

LaLaLand 23-12-2020 02:30 AM

Tbf she's doing everything else right, she's the correct distance away from those she's speaking to. I'm not bothered by that.

No Arista. I don't agree. I still think he was more out of order. X

Cherie 23-12-2020 06:32 AM

Why cant these people follow the rules they expect everyone else to adhere to, she is indoors, wear a mask

Alf 23-12-2020 07:03 AM

She's allowed too, she's privliged.

Ammi 23-12-2020 07:15 AM

...it obviously wasn’t great that she did but I like that she’s offered no excuses in any way...

With his infected wife In car plus his young child, going to his much older family.

A world away from this.

She should have kept her mask on absolutely.
She did maintain social distancing.
She has apologised.

Remind me when Cummings even hinted at an apology.
Remind me again about him going to test his eyes by doing a 60 mile round trip, again with his wife and young child in the car.

He wasn't sure if that was covid or after effects of it.
What if he'd broken down and other innocent professionals had to come to assist him.
Or had he, his wife collapsed or his child got ill.

It's a world away from Nicola Sturgeon.
This is likely her first error by removing the mask indoors .

However here come the selective Tories all jumping in to bash her as if she'd committed the crime of the century.

How did Johnson and others in government get covid again.
Oh yes, by not even observing social distancing.

He'll get defended though.

Yes she was wrong, then again, I never got how it was fine to take off your masks in pubs and restaurants to eat, plus to talk then too with others too not of your connection in the same building.

She was wrong, she has apologised, however to compare her error as being as bad or worse than Cummings is at best insulting and ridiculous.

give us all the a christmas present and banish her

Toy Soldier 23-12-2020 09:11 AM

It was a very dumb thing to do, not much more to say about it than that really.

Comparing a 2-second removal of a mask to Cumming's several-day-long Covid odyssey across Britain is ludicrous though :joker:. He knowingly actually had Covid for a start.

They were both out of order,no matter where or how long.

Alf 23-12-2020 09:24 AM

As leader of Scotland, I think you Scottish people are supposed to follow her lead.

Amy Jade 23-12-2020 09:31 AM

One rule for them and another for us as per usual.

...yeah, there’s not really a lot to say...she can’t undo it and has unreservedly/ashamedly apologised ...there isn’t really anything else that she can do...but if she ever had Strike 2...?....we could bring back hanging, maybe...

He wasn't sure if he had too.
As he stated he hadn't felt well while he was there.

Hence his concern on his eyes when he went on a 60 mile round trip to test them with said wife recovering from covid and young child in car too

I cannot see where that even begins to compare to Sturgeon.
No matter what people think about her.

I didn't see or hear Johnson condemning Cummings either.
Although we did get a new fairy story as to testing eyes to listen to.

Yeah there’s really no comparison.

As regards Cummings ... I got the impression he wasn’t feeling 100% and decided on a 30 minute drive to see how he was before even considering embarking on a 10 hour drive ... at the time I felt it was a fairly reasonable thing to do tbh

We will never know the real truth. ...

I do feel that everybody’s went well over the top making up endless ( unfunny) jokes about the latest eye test ..

Just because she has apologised makes no difference at all. If we all went around without masks only to apologise when we get caught...where would we be

Well an apology from her is more than was ever even hinted at from Cummings never mind given.

It was only briefly too she removed it apparently.
Still wrong but if apologies really make no difference, there's not much hope for anyone on anything then to be apologising for anything.

That would be a sad World indeed.

To be brutally honest this is a tiny break, I’ve seen my dad, mother, sister, brother do exactly the same at a restaurant when standing up to go by the bathroom. It is easily forgotten when in a restaurant or a public place as it’s not that normal. As other people around you are also not wearing masks because they are seated, there is no reminder. To me it just seems the case of being human and forgetting for a few seconds

The social distancing is clearly seen and has been instilled in us for much longer, making it hard to forget. If she was up in there grill then I would be annoyed/frustrated, but she isn’t and It’s a tiny rule break and I’m not going to condemn someone when the vast majority of the public have done the same at one point or another (forget to put a mask on for some seconds when standing up to move when previously seated - I have done it, and I think a lot would be lying if they once had not forgotten if they’ve been fortunate enough to visit restaurants / other venues... difference is her one mistake is going to be caught on camera..)

That’s just my two cents anyways

So because it's a leader that people like, it's just a little break of the rules and doesn't matter? Got it
