Republican Congresswoman quotes Hitler (praises)

mhmm! those republican/nazi comparisons really were true!

Crimson Dynamo 06-01-2021 05:58 PM

is it possible in his life Hitler said one true thing?

he probably said Austria was a beautiful country

or that Germans are great people

:bored:

Oliver_W 06-01-2021 05:59 PM

What the hell is wrong with her? There are plenty of other people with quotes that mean the same thing, why choose a bloody Hitler quote?

Ramsay 06-01-2021 06:03 PM

Yikes

Purposefully ignoring the wider point.

DouglasS 06-01-2021 06:06 PM

What’s wrong with saying he was right on one solo thing? I don’t understand the point or argument. Everyone is in agreement that hurler was wrong on everything else?

Shaun 06-01-2021 07:19 PM

It's the fact that he's her point of reference, instead of someone who - you know - didn't try to destroy democracy

Kizzy 06-01-2021 07:45 PM

Imagine Hitler being an expert on coercion. ..who knew?

Imaging knowing what happened following that coercion and trying to turn it into something uplifting and positive?

Brave new world...cowardly new order

Proof that right wingers will literally bend over backwards to protect their own rather than criticise them when they do wrong. You both are part of the problem. When people on your side start quoting Hitler, you denounce that ****, you don't defend it.

Imo I'm imagining that a lot of neutral voters in the US are looking down the Republican Party right now as they're coming across as lunatics.

Love or hate the Conservative Party in the UK (I'm in the latter) but they know how to conduct themselves to the public.

maaate, why even mention Hitler? Plenty of philosophers have made the same point. She could have googled one and then looked "smart" when she quoted them. Heck, she could even have said something like "or as Whitney Houston once sang, I believe children are our future"

Labour's John McDonnell, when he was Shadow Chancellor, produced and quoted from a copy of Mao's Little Red Book. In the House of Commons. Mao was a communist and the world's greatest mass murderer.

Labour members in this country carry posters of Stalin at their rallies... he also killed more people than Hitler.

Yet here we are, being outraged because one idiot quoted Hitler.

I mean, we're selling arms to Saudi's to commit genocide at the moment and yet people support Boris. Easy, this.

When John McDonnell quoted Chairman Mao the Tories ripped him to shreds.

But it seems they have some equally big fans of the Communist leader in their ranks.

A Tory MP has used words by the authoritarian who presided over the famine of millions - to open a local health centre.

Jonathan Lord issued one of Chairman Mao 's most infamous quotes on Friday as he unveiled the Bedser Hub at Woking Community Hospital, Surrey.

He told visitors including local news site Get Surrey: "I am not a great one for quoting Mao but ‘let a thousand flowers bloom’."

I didn't even get why JM was brought into the thread tbh, so mine was purposeful, not ignorance.

Both are horrific and deserving of condemnation.... So why do you try to try to downplay anti-semitic actions when it comes from the right and amplify them when it comes from the left? Anti-semitism is anti-semitism regardless of which side it comes from. You can't pick and choose which is okay and which is not depending on if it's coming from your side of the fence or not.

Pointing out labour based anti-semitism doesn't make sympathising with Hitler in this instance any less bad. It's just pure whataboutery. You should treat anti-semitism with the same contempt regardless of the source.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Local politicians are outraged after a video posted on the personal Facebook page of borough president candidate Leticia Remauro depicted her saying the phrase “Heil Hitler” while attending a rally outside Mac’s Public House last year.
