Cabinet discuss invoking 25th amendment to remove Trump

It is being claimed that Pence was the one who activated the DC national Guard and loads of people in high power are demanding the 25th amendment be invoked, if Pence did activate the DC gaurd its likely that he already invoked it himself

Denver 06-01-2021 09:21 PM

If he did indeed activate the National Gaurd its worth noting that isn't a power the VP holds

GiRTh 06-01-2021 09:24 PM

Looks like I got it wrong in the other thread. I still cant see Pence doing this cuz he's almost certainly running in 2024 too and he too needs Donnie base to have any kind of chance

Pence has moved away from Trumo totally now and seems to be favouring himself for the real Rep fan base and not the trumpites

The Trumpers are going nowhere, Pandora's box has been opened.

They will have nobody to vote for, they will all be in prison

GiRTh 06-01-2021 09:29 PM

Agree with Alf. Trumpism has followers. Hopefully they will be looked upon as a cult but those votes are up for grabs and all the GOP candidates need them.

Denver 06-01-2021 09:31 PM

The pentagon have confirmed Pence activated the national gaurd

The information wars.

Tom4784 06-01-2021 09:36 PM

Trumpism will be a stain on elections for years to come, thankfully it'll likely have an effect of running spoiler for the republican party and screwing their chances as well.

The GOP made a Faustian deal when it came to Trump and it looks like payment is finally due.

It's being said that Pence is making all of the decisions and Trump isn't in charge while 30+ Congress People have called for 25th Amendment

LaLaLand 07-01-2021 12:18 AM

What's the 25th Amendment?

Oh VP takes over basically?

Ots basically removing the president if he is unfit to do the job

Mitchell 07-01-2021 12:29 AM

Trump deserves it.

Denver 07-01-2021 12:42 AM

It's been reported by CBS that the cabinet are talking about invoking the 25th Amendment jut have yet to approach VP Pence

joeysteele 07-01-2021 08:50 AM

Oh, I would just have him overwhelmed with mountains of gobbledegook and unnecessary paperwork to have to work through for the next few days until his one term Presidency is up.

Then cart him off, out of the White House like garbage, which is what he is.

Then look at anything once he's gone, which he could be called to account for, even in a legal sense.
Of which there's possibly quite a bit of too in my view.

Absolutely horrible individual he is.

Denver 07-01-2021 01:05 PM

This is starting to gain some traction now with some cabinet members discussing and drawing up plans to invoke the 25th Amendment

The Slim Reaper 07-01-2021 01:08 PM

Should have already happened. Everytime trump does something, it always looks like he might face consequences, then suddenly time drags on and he's forgiven all over again. If nothing is done by the end of the day, nothing will be done.

Tom4784 07-01-2021 01:12 PM

It won't happen, he's never faced consequences as president and he won't start now. He won't be vulnerable to consequences until his reign is done.

their best option is to impeach him, but time wise, the gop could easily wait it out and it just gives more air to their conspiracy theories.

The best thing they can do is prosecute him once he is out of office and until then, put the word out that he has lost his mind, so that people will largely ignore him if he tries to do something dodgy. This 25th amendment talk is basically to facilitate key staff ignoring him

I thought this at first, but republicans can just play out the clock. The 25th is instant removal by the cabinet. Rumours that the cabinet are all going to resign which is cowardly when they can end it all in an afternoon.

im afraid its not that simple. If they go down the 25th route and get pence and a majority to agree, if trump refutes it, it then goes to congress where trump and the cabinet each write a letter detailing their case. Then it requires two thirds majority in both houses, which just wouldnt happen, and would also extend further than 2 weeks

GiRTh 07-01-2021 01:36 PM

It wont happen. They're all still too scared of his base.

He has to be prosecuted when out of office. Its looks like he's going to be tied up in litigation for years as there are already a number of ongoing investigations into his dealings while in office. His recent actions will only add to his legal issues

Biden cant actively support it though. He's has to be Presidential and concentrate on the pandemics response but thee has to be a major investigation into Trumps time in office that has to lead to widespread prosecutions including Trump. HE has to be made an example of to deter any kind of repeat in the future.

Trump can still pardon himself, and believe it or not he can actually apply a blanket pardon to everyone who invaded the capitol yesterday
