Long-standing conventions that make no sense to you

And by that I mean things that most people do without a second thought that don’t make sense to you/you’ve always wondered about.

I’ll start by people for the kettle to boil all the way to make tea/coffee instead of heating it to a moderately warm temperature so they can drink it straight away instead of having to wait for it to cool.

If you take Milk it's the right temperature straight away anyway plus tea tastes gross if the water isn't hot enough. I don't take milk in my coffee but I'd rather it be a bit too hot than a bit too cold

The water has to be boiling for the the tea to infuse properly. I think that’s the kind of thing that would have been changed by now if there was a way to make tea quicker/easier

i think we should all work on a saturday, one day off every flipping week is more than enough. ALso, reduce holidays down to 2 weeks a year

I always add spices to my tea so that’s probably why.

Why does what doesn’t concern you irk you so much?

Alf 08-01-2021 06:43 PM

Hand bra's

I hate it when the ladies wop em' out and then cover them up with a hand bra. Let em' hang free, ladies.

You're free to work as much as you want, why do you care what other people do?

More like nutmeg and cinnamon. And I do usually boil the kettle regardless.

Redway 08-01-2021 07:57 PM

Why does people having more than one day off a week irk you so much though?

Captain.Remy 08-01-2021 09:08 PM

Lukewarm tea in the middle of a pandemic? Really bro? Never going to happen! :joker:
My tea better be boiling hot and I don't regret any of the times I have burnt my tongue.
It has to infuse properly.

Your not meant to boil it all the way, switch it off just as it starts to bubble

Captain.Remy 09-01-2021 07:28 AM

Not boiling BOILING, but hot instead of lukewarm...if that makes sense?

Ammi 09-01-2021 07:37 AM

...spell checking/grammar on emails/messages etc after you’ve already sent them...and then agonising for three hours over your errors...

Ammi 09-01-2021 07:37 AM

...no one has time to boil the kettle or make tea, then...

Alf 09-01-2021 07:58 AM

Bring back the whistling kettle.

It was the singing kettle back in my day

Toy Soldier 09-01-2021 09:45 AM

If you're making tea or cafetiere coffee the water has to be boiling or it won't work properly. If you're making instant coffee you're a heathen and shouldn't be allowed ANY coffee anyway :suspect:

So I guess the long-standing convention I never understood... is people willingly drinking instant coffee. YUK.
