Night Stalker: The Hunt For a Serial Killer (Netflix Jan 13)

This looks so good - very creepy. Love a good true crime documentary.

All about burglar, rapist and serial killer Richard Ramirez, or "The Night Stalker" whose night time home invasions terrorised Los Angeles and San Francisco in the mid 80's.

Honestly when you read up on what he did... Just terrifying.

If you want to read up before you watch: Wikipedia profile of Richard Ramirez

Harrowing reading in many parts.

Ramirez is honestly terrifying. The things he did were absolutely hideous and he clearly enjoyed it and relished in the attention it got him.

Out now - gonna start watching tonight!

I just read a bit about him , absolutely horrific and grim .

He really was unbelievably evil.

The eyeballs in the jewellery box thing just makes me ill.

Cal. 13-01-2021 10:04 PM

Bye this man was so terrifying

Cal. 13-01-2021 10:05 PM

Didn’t he used to taunt his victims for months before like ringing their house and giggling down the phone so they knew it was him?

And I swear he crept into this girls room saying her name really creepily and laughing when she was hiding bye

No this isn’t him, you’re thinking of someone else. This guy just chose at complete random - any location/age/gender, totally random.

Maybe you’re thinking of someone like The Zodiac Killer?

LaLaLand 14-01-2021 02:22 PM

After just setting out to watch the first episode last night I ended up being unable to turn it off and watched the whole thing, all four episodes.

Absolutely brilliant documentary but so terrifying. Well recommended!!

Yeah realised after I made these posts I was talking about this guy who only got caught last year:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_James_DeAngelo

They both had the same nickname for a while

Crimson Dynamo 15-01-2021 06:15 PM

Cherie 15-01-2021 07:55 PM

Started it, it’s heavy going, he was brutal

Crimson Dynamo 15-01-2021 08:20 PM

Excellent

That's one disturbed little bastard.:umm2:

LaLaLand 15-01-2021 08:47 PM

The way he was caught is SO satisfying I have to say. Almost the perfect comeuppance for him in regards to the way he was operating.

Richard Ramirez is possibly the scariest serial killer I’ve ever heard of after watching this documentary.

He really was just unthought of evil. All serial killers are sick and twisted don't get me wrong - but there's just something about the totally random way he went about it (no particular gender/age/race/anything) that just unsettles me and the way how he got off on people's fear. Like that poor girl who was cowering behind the kitchen counter that he WAITED for to look at him before he did anything. Horrible.

I really want the same people to do a series on "The Hillside Stranglers" now after they were mentioned in the show, and others from LA's dark past.

Yeah completely agree. The things he did to people were terrifying and so barbaric. The way he could have crept up on that woman in the garage without her seeing him as it was dark but he chose to tap on the roof of her car to let her know he was there. I also don’t even want to think about how he got that woman out of her car whilst she was driving the same night.

Also found out from further reading his first murder victim was a 9 year old girl which they left out of the documentary. I wonder why he killed that girl but then spared all of his other child victims’ lives.

I think that was the Golden State Killer...an ex Police Officer.

Cal. 24-01-2021 06:18 PM

I can’t stop thinking about this case, it’s so terrifying :worry:

Cal. 24-01-2021 09:33 PM

I’ll NEVER forget it NEVER /kim

Amy Jade 24-01-2021 09:45 PM

I watched this tonight and it's confirmed that Ramirez is one of the creepiest killers ever, he enjoyed scaring his victims so much it makes my skin crawl.

The golden state killer is really awful too, the phone calls...especially the heavy breathing one when he whispers to the poor woman he'll kill her. Imagine being home alone and hearing that.

Cal. 24-01-2021 10:01 PM

The fact Ramirez was only like 24/25 as well when he committed his crimes like wtf
