Joanna Cherry Sacked from SNP Front Bench

[The SNP’s shadow home office and justice spokesperson
in the Commons, Joanna Cherry,
has announced via Twitter she has been sacked
from the party’s front bench.
Whilst Sturgeon’s motivation for the dismissal
has not yet emerged, Cherry stands opposed
to the party’s leadership on the
two biggest rows at the moment:
defending Salmond in the ongoing civil war;
and causing headaches for Sturgeon in
the trans rights row.
Just yesterday, Cherry blocked fellow SNP MP – and former
deputy leader in Westminster – Kirsty Blackman
over a trans rights row…]

Had a feeling this was coming tbh. Shes been outspoken on womens rights during the whole identity politics thing, and SNP have well and truly hitched their wagon to identity politics. Surprised its taken this long.

No room for open feminists in politics, I guess...

Hmm had not heard of that twitter thing. I was going off past stuff. so cannot comment on that specifically (very wary of basing opinions on 'news' as usually, its a bit biased) but..it has definitely been brewing a while.

So you stand up for women, and you get sacked by a woman these days.

We really are moving forward

or was it her association with Alex Salmond that got her sacked, time will tell

I mean, I do have to say, if I had to guess, the Salmond stuff is much more on Wee Nic's radar right now so it may well be.

It's an odd duo of issues really; the idea is that she's unpopular when it comes to the trans rights debate because of going to bat for women's rights... but how anyone who is a staunch defender of women can possibly be a supporter of Alex Salmond at this point is beyond me. Yuck.

I thought he was cleared of charges?

Of course Nicola Sturgeon will have to have had input to changes.

However this is Ian Blackford's reshuffle of his Westminster group of MPs team.
He is the leader at Westminster.

On grounds of "not enough evidence", not because there was significant evidence to the contrary, and amidst plenty of evidence of being a "generally slimey bastard" - just not to the extent of illegality. He should quietly go away. He's waaaaaay too far from "squeaky clean" to feel any sympathy for his "questing for justice".

Yes Joey and IMO worth pointing out that it is just that, a reshuffle... she lost her position but she has not been "sacked", she still has a job.

IF there were 14 women involved, it’s hard to believe in this #metoo age one of them wouldn’t have made an impact? The fact that Nic’s husband contradicted her statement is well dodgy
