I'd rather dip my bollox in batter and then deep fry them in hot oil, than watch this Weinstein lovers gathering.

Oscars nominations 2021: Baron-Cohen, Mulligan and Kaluuya in the running
Annouced today. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-56363640 |
Bit of a dry year, as expected. I'm hoping Promising Young Woman does well and that Chadwick gets the oscar.
Need to watch the others though, I think I'll watch Sound of Metal on Friday since it's on Amazon Prime, I believe. Mank holds no interest to me, but I'm definitely interested in seeing Minari and Nomadland as well. I imagine I'll get around to the rest at some point too. |
The leading nominees:
10 nominations - Mank 6 - The Father 6 - Judas and the Black Messiah 6 - Minari 6 - Nomadland 6 - Sound of Metal 6 - The Trial of the Chicago 7 Best picture The Father Judas and the Black Messiah Mank Minari Nomadland Promising Young Woman Sound of Metal The Trial of the Chicago 7 Best actress Viola Davis, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom Andra Day, The United States vs Billie Holiday Vanessa Kirby, Pieces of a Woman Frances McDormand, Nomadland Carey Mulligan, Promising Young Woman Best actor Riz Ahmed, Sound of Metal Chadwick Boseman, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom Sir Anthony Hopkins, The Father Gary Oldman, Mank Steven Yeun, Minari Best supporting actress Maria Bakalova, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm Glenn Close, Hillbilly Elegy Olivia Colman, The Father Amanda Seyfried, Mank Yuh-Jung Youn, Minari Best supporting actor Sacha Baron Cohen - The Trial of the Chicago 7 Daniel Kaluuya, Judas and the Black Messiah Leslie Odom Jr, One Night in Miami Paul Raci, Sound of Metal Lakeith Stanfield - Judas and the Black Messiah |
The Father Is the only movie I haven’t seen. Might check it before the show. . Judas and Sound of Metal are my faves from the list. I love the diversity of the Best Actor category too and two deserving female directors for the first time ever.
Chadwick winning would be a really emotional moment and the performance deserves it too. |

Not heard of Promising Young Woman before now and it looks like an interestingly different character to see Mulligan in. I'll have to look out for it.

I'm glad to see big franchises and Disney have been overlooked  I hope that era of Big Hollywood will sizzle out before long!
Superheroes have more representation in the Razzies than the Oscars :joker: Though that's Wonder Woman 1984, which was actually good!! If anything from that milieu deserves a Razzie it's Birds of Prey... |

Nomadland isn't out on Disney+/Star till April 30th and for some reason The Father isn't out till June 11th. |
