Just 8.4% of the world’s population live in a “full democracy”

The UK system is honestly flawed in similar ways to the US system, the difference keeping us in the "full" section (albeit the lighter side of it) is simply that - thus far - the people involved in politics are still largely abiding by etiquette rules, whereas Trump and the GOP's total abandonment of etiquette has damaged the US's function as a democracy.
In theory, there are a number of undemocractic loopholes that UK governments could LEGALLY exploit, but generally don't. Boris tried his hand at it with some Autumn 2019 Brexit-stuff though, if you will recall. |
And the attempt to give them the power to break legal agreements, and the fact we have government policies against a minority groups (travellers), and the fact it will soon be legal for the police to rape and murder.
Oh, and Priti's attacks on the legal aid lawyers, leading directly to them being attacked in their practices. Just the usual democratic norms of modern Britain. |
