BBC sports reporter Sonja McLaughlin admitted she was left "in my car crying"

Maybe the BBC
should change her to a Fella
then its less trolling.

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/20...rell-interview

[McLaughlan wrote on Twitter after the match:
“Toxic, embarrassing, disgraceful,
appalling. Just some of the feedback I’ve had.
Thanks for using @ sign so it’s all hit home … Now imagine getting inundated
with abuse for doing your job. In my car crying. Hope you’re happy.”]

Stop Reading it.

The Clip was shown on Ch5HD AM debate
It was just her asking Legit Questions
but that Captain "never" answers questions
shifts the blame.

Ch5HD said he is like that every time.

I assume some Trolls
may think he will not give anything
to a lady reporter

I agree on both points ..

He answered the ‘rugby’ questions but players aren’t allowed to comment on officiating so he , quite rightly , avoided those .

I guess if we’re nitpicking nobody should be asking players about decisions or officials ... especially straight after a game ( a defeat at that) as they risk getting the players into serious trouble.

Maybe that’s why they all do it ?

Fan the flames and hope for a reaction ( and a news story ) .

That’s pretty funny ... however when I see the mid - game summaries and there’s a female presenter or an ex female player ... all the guys are ‘especially’ polite and considerate.. maybe overly so as the guys never disagree or pick fault with anything they say .... presumably because they’d get slaughtered in the media afterwards

the interview certainly doesn't warrant a trolling which is the point surely, and it shouldnt matter who does the interview

arista 01-03-2021 11:49 AM

Yes LT
this story made me think of the Harry Enfield Show

Its so relevant
to this Captain talking to the older Blonde BBC Lady reporter

...is this Captain.Remy again with his online abuse...?....he can get a bit passionate with his rugby and we have to rein him in...seriously I can’t see what she said in the interview that was objected to...I know it’s a job but I do think the whole concept of interviewing a sport person just immediately after the event and with barely giving time to breathe, is quite rubbish, tbh...I mean, the disappointment etc and just that awful feeling you must have and then a microphone at you and someone asking you how you feel...really...?...we can surely all guess and just not needed within moments of a game without having time to settle...anyway, internet trolls are awful....that’s not her fault though, it’s a dumb thing to ask someone to do...

Not really.

Or if it is, then you could argue that sexism is the reason she's there in the first place, because the producers actually sat down to select their team and decided that it had to be a woman (I know this happens) which meant men were excluded for being men.

We can see that they chose based purely on her being a woman here, because we can see by her performance that she isn't the best person for the job.

If they decided that Peter Hitchens will present Drag race, I think people would question his performance and knowledge of the subject, well guess what? the rugby fans feel the same.

Slight tangent here but the other week whilst I was watching one of the four LIVE games that day ... my beautiful wife suddenly piped up saying “why is she on today ?” ( it was a ex player ) .... she then added “ if just doesn’t seem right” .

Now she has zero interest in football and could probably only recognise one player .. David Beckham .
