Hartlepool : 6th May by-election contest : Conservative Win

https://news.sky.com/story/labour-mp...ntest-12247622

[The by-election could be held on 6 May
to coincide with local and mayoral elections in England,
and will pose the first electoral test of
Sir Keir Starmer's leadership since taking
over from Jeremy Corbyn last year.]
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tees-56416603

[The 57-year-old's constituency was one of the few
"Red Wall" strongholds that Labour managed
to hold on to in 2019.]

[In September 2019,
Mr Hill was suspended by Labour after allegations
he sexually harassed a woman.

But, a month later, the 57-year-old revealed he had
been reinstated to the party and
said he "completely rejected" the allegations.

A final hearing of an employment tribunal
concerning Mr Hill is scheduled for 10 May.]

Can't say I'm ever surprised when it comes to Labour MPs

joeysteele 16-03-2021 03:08 PM

This is going to be a tricky by election.
I think Labour have a struggle on here to hold this in a much lower turnout by-election.

It's been more than a bit of a possible loss for a few elections.

Richard Tice will probably contest the seat for Reform UK - previously the Brexit party and they got a lot of votes in 2019. I don't think he'll get much cut through now Brexit is done though, I can see the Tories taking this seat

obviously a very important by-election for us."]

Really odd that of her just a week away from voting.

I don't care for the Labour candidate either though.

This is a very tricky by election which could be a Con gain, if their candidate decides to connect.

Keir is going on Every Channel this morning.

GMBHD itv showed him a chart
with Labour behind in this By Election.

They asked him did he have to visit John Lewis Wall Paper?

Keir has visited Hartlepool 3 times.

joeysteele 04-05-2021 10:07 AM

I said before this was a tricky one.

It nearly was lost in 2015 election.
It's been moving from Labour a while really.

I personally don't understand the more North East electing Con MPs when no more should be required.

However, I think this will be lost and that should never have been the case for Labour.
After holding it in 2019, to now lose it in a by election.
Should ring alarm bells for Labour under Starmer.

I mean really, the Con candidate is terrible, along with the Labour one too however it seems.

The Labour Fella
is Remain.

Large amounts there are Leave.
He needs to accept we are out of the EU.

SkyNewsHD Beth
spoke direct to Kier
while he was walking around,
He was honest saying he has only had a year
and it will take time.

Beth walked over to a Lady
and asked her if she knew who that man was?
The lady said no.

It came pretty close to being another Red Wall seat lost in 2019. So actually losing it during a Vaccine Boost wouldn't mean anything about Starmer's leadership... apart from maybe suggesting it takes longer than a year to turn the ship around, and especially a year that included a global pandemic. The last thing people will remember about BoJo's handling of Covid may very well be how effectively the vaccine is being dished out...

bots 05-05-2021 07:58 AM

whatever the result, there is plenty room for the tories and labour to spin it. I could list the reasons for winning/losing right now

arista 07-05-2021 03:17 AM

Conservatives are winning this seat.

[Labour conceded defeat in Hartlepool by-election with Tories heading for win]

Labour yesterday sent up Peter Mandleson
that did not help.

Official Result soon.
